Lumatek Zeus 465W - good option for my 4x4?

Hi all,

Currently running 2x Mars Hydro TSL2000 in my 4x4. Plenty of light for such cheap fixtures, but they don't run top shelf LEDs and one of the two quantum boards on one of them doesn't come on after every few lights out. Can't rely on them for grows going forward. Can use one or both for a smaller grow or maybe a mother.

Have done some research and feel like the Lumatek Zeus 465 might be a good fit. Anyone used them or got opinions on their stuff? Believe they use Osrams with LUMLEDs which I'm guessing are their own. Any help appreciated.

Good lights as far as I have heard. But don't take that as endorsement

I have a zues 600 in my 1.2m x 1.2m nd even that’s over kill there rated for 1.5x1.5
The 465 will be fine

Thanks mate. I looked at the 600 and came to the same conclusion. I'm gonna bite the bullet and get it sorted. My Mars Hydro lights cost me $540, I can get the Lumatek for under 1000 it's a no brainer. Mars has got me through this grow but they're not the best LEDs and need to be able to trust my light. Appreciate your input mate

Thanks mate. I looked at the 600 and came to the same conclusion. I'm gonna bite the bullet and get it sorted. My Mars Hydro lights cost me $540, I can get the Lumatek for under 1000 it's a no brainer. Mars has got me through this grow but they're not the best LEDs and need to be able to trust my light. Appreciate your input mate

I seen the 600w pro a few month ago probably half a year ago nd was waiting to buy it for my next run then the 600w pro 2.9 came out
That’s only £799 on drblooms website I had to buy it the light is unbelievably efficient for the price one of the best manufactured leds I’ve seen did a lot of research before coming to that conclusion

Lumatek is the European name for the US Photontek light series. They are great quality lights. With that said, 465w doesn't give your grow area any extra light to spare. I would be more inclined to purchase the 600w version if there is room in the lighting budget for that. In my opinion, the 600w version is better suited to your 4 x 4 tent size and allows a bit of flexibility upward if you are thinking at any point of upgrading to a larger size tent. Also, the 600w running at 75% would produce less heat and be more efficient than the 465w running at 100%.

720w in a 4 x 4 overkill? I don't think so. It gives you options. You don't always have to blast your light at 100%.

If a row of LED is intermittently failing its a good idea to check the board. See if it's burnt. Or needs a small solder repair. if you're handy with electronics. If had some cheap lights that started to flicker. All they needed was a better solder connection.

For the price of the Zeus you could get the Mars Hydro FC6500 650 watt or Spider Farmer SF7000 and have change left.

I wouldn't touch the Mars no matter what.

The SF7000 is a very good light. Side by side, the PhotonTek (Lumatek) seem to be better built for durability over the Spider Farmer. I looked at them both last week at my local shop. The PhotonTek is a bit heavier and appears to be able to handle a little more bumping around. However if it's hung in a tent and never moved from it's yoyos, the extra cash in pocket would make a lot of sense to some people. Either light would be a solid purchase imo.

Great advice all. On the Mars I'm sorry but having one for less than 3 months that has a whole board that fails, and reading people's experiences trying to get support for them, they're off my Xmas list.

Will have a look at the Spider, just seems to be more build quality with the Lumatek. You don't get the Samsungs but lots of Osrams which seem to be the gold standard.

But now during my research I find there is a company in my own city making great lights with fantastic reviews. And going straight to the manufacture for repairs is a ten minute drive! Check these out interested to hear thoughts

PAR map as setup for single plant in 4x4. The two units in the above pack are mounted side by side and look at that spread to the corners . Imagine how good it would look with a little spread between them?? Just looked at the address they are literally five minutes from my house And here's me online trying to find a way to get a Gavita shipped to Australia as they don't sell the 1700e here... Personally, I like the bar style lights over the board style. I have the Grower's Choice ROI-E720 in my first 5 x 5 tent. I have four 240w quantum boards 3000k + 660 + uv/ir in my other 5 x 5. Both tents produce outstanding results, but it takes a bit more for me to keep the quantum board tent cool. Both tents are in the same room sharing the same environment. If cooling is an issue, I'd look at bar lights or DIY strip kits. Other than that difference, quantum boards can deliver very impressive results.

Will see how it goes once summer arrives here with the 110 days. But it's a 100% concrete room, walls and floor, so pretty regulated. Looking forward to going down to see them and check out the lights! Will post a report of my findings here...

Please do ... I ran only my E720 for my summer grow. With central air running all summer, I didn't want to push the electricity bill higher with the second tent. Within the next few weeks, the quantum boards will be fired up for their winter run. I'll be running both tents at that time. My grow area is in the mechanical room in my basement. Concrete walls and floor, just like yours.

What were your findings for the Grow light Australia LED panels, I can't find any reviews or info on them.
