Hi All. First time THC farming, been a casual vegetable garden grower for years.

I have 4 outdoor plants (~8" tall clones that were gifted to me) that I planted on June 29th, about 48 hours before it became legal here in Virginia.

I was told the clones were from Sour Diesel, but all online sources tell me that SD is an auto flower, and I understand it, you cannot clone an auto flower. So who knows what the heck these things really are!

My plants have grown very well and are thriving. The 2 largest are in the most fertile part of the garden, and have been trained with LST. They are about waist high and they both have a canopy that consists of 7 Cola, plus several smaller ones a bit lower. They are flowering, but they flowers are not as dense as I would like at this stage. My friend and dad are both growing these exact same clones, on the same timeline as me. Their plants are seriously puny little things compared to mine, but have more dense buds that look more well developed.

I have been using Fox Farms, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom- and a little Grow Big- as indicated by their charts.

My concern now that they have done so well, is that they are currently only getting about 5.5hrs of direct sunlight at best, and about 2hr of dappled light. As fall is near, the lighting is only faint to get worse. The shade is from the tall trees on my 2 acre property.

If I were to suddenly supplement with LED grow lights on ONE of the larger plants in the morning, from 7-10:30am, which is before direct light hits them, but of course well after daylight begins, would that throw off the cycle of the plant?

Or will the plant just be happy to getting more direct light during its flowering stage with no objections?

I have a single Mars LS2000 light that should arrive here tomorrow, which is adequately sized for the 3 foot diameter radius my plants have.

If it is okay to suddenly add a light like this to one of the plants, should I do by using judicious control of the 25%-100% intensity control on the light, to reduct the shock to the plant?

If this will work, I will need to have an easy/fast, hang/unhang setup for my light. As I will not leave it out in the rain. I also only want them setup on school day mornings. As My teenage boys have yet to see the plants, as they are growing amongst and camouflaged by pepper plants. If I leave the light out all the time, my boys will notice it for certain.

I can't believe no one responded.
I would like to know what you did since you got the new light. Me personally would have put the light at sunup and leave it all day as long as it didn't block any sun light. But the ambient light counts as hours of light so if you only did it then it wouldn't add hours of total light to the day. I would love to see pics now of the plants.

Strange, I would have thought someone would have chimed in.

I ended up using the light everyday, sunup to sundown, except when the rain forecast was to risky.

The Mars lighted plant yielded 177grams.
155grams for the one next to it without the light.

my 2 smaller plants tucked away in the corner yielded 83g combined.

not bad for my first grow—-although I have another issue I am about to post about.

There's always issues but as long as you fix it right away they should always be minor problems
