Sour Diesel Strain
First time on this website
I was at first growing two plants but after my first plant got topped I immediately saw signs my plant was not happy. I have another plant that I still grow but she is showing signs of the earlier plant. The first plant that showed signs of stress I got rid of thinking it was maybe root rot but after going through and looking at the roots, the roots were looking very healthy and very white. The plants are showing signs of stunted growth and curling of leaves (clawing). Only newer growth is showing these signs of stress where on the other hand older leaves seem to be dying off on the bottom part of the plant. There seems to be very little growth and they have been in flower cycle for about two weeks.

- Light cycle before flower cycle was 18/6
- Light cycle is 12/12
- Watering is from a run off barrel off the back of the house and the PH is around 6.2 to 6.9 with cheap testers I have
- Temp is normally around 74-80 degrees Fahrenheit and humidity around 30-40
- 450w Viparspectra LED
- Soil is Fox Farm Potting Soil
- I water when dry but do get attached to plants and sometimes get carried away with how much water they need.
- I have fan in there running at all times
- I also have a Vivo Sun Air Filter
-Vivo Sun grow tent
- Plastic five gallon buckets with drainage holes ( moving to 5 gallon fabric pots after this grow)
- Light is about 2 feet away
- I have only top dressed them once with gai green 4-4-4

Thank you in advance. I found out I really like growing these plants but I am getting discouraged by the results. I am also on a budget so I might not have all the tools I need.

yeah, we need pics in normal light. looks like nitrogen toxicity to me, coupled with a bit of overwatering, but without seeing em in normal light neither can be ruled out. you have a handful of issues going on either way and your environment certainly isn't the cause despite humidity being a bit low.

Measure the ppm of your mixed nutrients in water before watering, then measure the ppm of the water runoff into your trays. If the ppm is same or more then you are over feeding nutrients. I use this technique now every time I feed since I had that problem with my last grow. Good luck.

Runoff ppm in organic soil don't mean much. New bags of FF are usually about 3000ppm.

Give em a Xanax just kidding, if there autos you did not say, they do not like to be topped, swings in pH rh and Temps will stress them, also looks like you may have added to much perlite ie nitro but can't see in pics, to much nitro will make the mix hot, on the other end not enough will yellow them out, you say your using ffof if you used miracle grow perlite they add food so every time you water your feeding this can overwhelm your plant, in my opinion your mix is off, a digital pH meter will help bc you can get an exact reading. You don't have to mess with pH up/down a bit of white vinegar in a 16oz cup stirred will lower pH, baking soda same drill will raise it, but go light bc you can always repeat, I only give my plants botanacare pro grow a nice light food I grow autoflowers and they do not like stress at all botanacare is just fish mulch and nitro, good luck.

Wow! How long have you had this issue?
how much are you watering and how often?
and can we get some pics in normal light?
I had this issue for about two weeks maybe a little longer. I am watering when the top of the soil is dry and watering about half a gallon of water at a time.

This looks like a micronutrient deficiency to my eyes. I just can't remember which one but a Google search should help because the damage is quite distinctive.

Edit: I take that back, with organic soil the odds of a micronutrient deficiency is very low

How much did you top dress with? The 4-4-4 has a lot of water soluble nitrogen which would explain the deep green and poor bud development.

I use the 4-4-4 and 2-8-4 in varying ratios throughout veg and bloom. Last feed is usually 75% 2-8-4 and 25% 4-4-4 at a rate of 2 tbsp per gallon of medium.

looks severely overwatered, a cold floor? maybe even too much wind from a fan directly pointed at it?
a combination of a few things maybe.. light?
that pail have holes in the bottom and or sides?

I top dressed it with 4-4-4 with exact measurements but I didn't use as much as directed due to the plant being smaller. Also this started happening after about three or four weeks after top dressing

The five gallon buckets are on little slabs of wood I cut out to get them off the floor maybe a little bigger than an inch high. The fan is sitting straight up usually and is usually on low settings. Lights maybe. The buckets have holes in the bottom I drilled myself.

Have you looked very closely for mites on the plant?
Drainage can also be a problem depending on how many and how big the holes are, I've learned that one the hard way too with peat based mediums.

I have not seen mites. Drainage might be the problem so that's why I am moving to fabric pots but I want to be able save this one if I can and actually find out what the problem is so I dont repeat it in the future.

Those blurple lights are terrible fir identifying problems. You need full spectrum day lights. The light is to close to the plant , led lights should always be put at the top of the tent. And put on a progressive system of dimming at different stages of growth.

I would start looking up “blistered and clawing leaves” that will direct you to various causes and solutions.

Have you looked super close at those leaves with a loupe? Just making for absolute certainty you aren’t dealing with hemp mites. 🤢
