Seedling day 10

Hey my names kaleum and I’m a new grower grew up in Seattle sold weed my whole life. Bow trying to find a green thumb any suggestions for my plant. I’m using black gold soil 2 par38 grow lights. Haven’t gave it any bites. Plant seems to be growing slow.

for starters you are giving it too much water and i see some deficiency but with the picture being a bit bluer is hard to say. i would also add more perlite to the soil mix you have.

Okay when I get home I will get you all the info. For starters I have a 2.5 *2.5 ft wide tent one plant. Humidity between 55-60 % 72-76 degrees for temp. Mars 300watt light. First time grower a lot of this was gifted to me from a friend out of state. So I don’t know much about light intensity. I have it 18 inches off my plant. I’ll check rest of info when I get home.

Welcome to the farm! 18 inches away from plant is spot on for what mars hydro says for hanging height. I agree with PK1 on the over watering and adding perlite to help with drainage. I like coco so I’m not familiar with soil but I’m sure more will chime in.

I wouldn’t recommend adding perlite until you are ready to transplant. You’ll kill it disturbing the little bit of soil in that cup just to add perlite. Use sterile perlite when you do. Fox farm and others sell it. Don’t use miraclegro perlite, it has additives you don’t want or need. It is over watered as others mentioned. Let it dry out a bit before watering anymore.

No particular brand and I agree with freezeland2 I wouldn’t add until you transplant.

The roots of that seedling is smaller than the plant it self .

He could do it now but that tap root is very fragile and can easily snap and then your done at that young. If he has more seeds and doesn’t mind starting over then I would say go for it.

WRONG AGAIN!! When the soil is more dry he can stick two finger's under the soil and pick up the ball root out than he won't damage anything. also, because its more dry he is going to have soil around the root so that transplanting is not as shocking.

Also man next time fill that cup right up to the very top, and make sure there is drainage holes at the bottom this will also help with drainage.

WRONG AGAIN!! When the soil is more dry he can stick two finger's under the soil and pick up the ball root out than he won't damage anything. also, because its more dry he is going to have soil around the root so that transplanting is not as shocking.

Lol if you say so man, I’m just trying to help the guy out. That root on that small of a seedling is very fragile that’s just a fact. He also clearly states he is a new grower so it makes no sense to tell him to do something that could potential ruin his grow. That seedling can definitely survive in that medium if he adjusts watering practices and he uses perlite when he transplants.

How do you recommend the OP add the perlite without mixing it in to the soil? To do that you would have to remove it from the cup, no? Is that really worth the risk at this point to the seedling when all is really needed at this point is to let it dry out. Adding some drain holes if there isn’t any would also help. Yes, i am suggesting to take the small seedling that has one root. I also said let it dry before doing so and since he is a new grower heis going to over water it again and again and leaving it be for the next two weeks isn't going to happen. I also, think he is smart enough to figure not to do anything crazy and follow a simple instruction while carefully perform the operation.

1- let it dry out - holes in the cup helps with this process
2- Once the soil is 20% moist you can CAREFULLY stick two finger's under the plant root ball al pick it up. Since the soil will be intact to the root it will not damage it and it won't give any transplant shock.
3- Hopefully you've already created your mix of 70% soil 30% perlite and than you can just put it in the new soil. Small amount of water and call it a day.

i've seen enough ppl giving advise and setting someone up for failure or throwing ideas to get a bullzeye.
Also, the fact that he is goingn to grow for the next month in that cup and knowing that soil is going to get over watered. yet, you two are telling him not to add perlites.

SO, the question is why are you two setting him up for failure?

Don’t believe telling the OP to let the soil dry out and watch the watering is exactly setting up a failure. He can add the perlite at transplant. If he were more experienced he wouldn’t have made that mistake. But being a new grower he’d probably cause more harm than good trying to rectify the current medium in that cup. You know you can make your points without talking down at folks. Might pay more attention to what you post.

Agree it looks overwatered, simply weigh the cup of soil and water when it gets light. A solo cup of soil runs 150-200 grams dry so if that weighs over 200 let it dry a couple days.

That is pretty sound advice and I would feel comfortable doing it. If the OP is confident enough he can do it successfully as well. Again just here to educate and learn. I have been there before with a seedling and nursed it along until repotting. Did it slow growth and have a longer veg sure but I also got a half pound from that plant. We all started at the beginning man.
