Want to clone this weekend but

I took cuts from my first grow transplanted from solo cups about two weeks ago they are maybe 3 months old minimum . Most look good most leaves look good but then there’s this strain and a few other strains with a couple leaves with slight wrinkles. None of the leaves of all 6 clones have more than 3 finger leaves. Would you still clone ? The humidity has been 45-55 percent because I’m flowering but I’m harvesting this weekend. The shorter plants are short because of genetics not stunting

Ideally I would not take cuts of those plants. The size is very small and with 3 finger leaves they seem weak. It is best to take cuts from healthy moms. I have several strains that 3 finger leaves means they are stressed. The same plant can product 7 finger leaves when happy.

Say what? Photoperiod cannabis reacts to its light period, even a plant that was flowering and then revegged will have periods of “different” growth reflected in its leaves. They will eventually return to normal patterns. They have not been weakened. Poor genetics would be a whole different situation though….

3 fingered leaves is a sign the plant is under stress and producing leaves to increase plant grow production thru additional photosynthesis. The same plant once it is healthy will product 5 and even at times 7 finger leaves. Seen it to many times. Yes a plant that is revegging will have periods of different growth, one or 3 finger leaves. Hence stress. The leaves that are 3 finger will not return to normal. Once they are produced as 3 finger leaves they will remain 3 finger. New growth can become 5 finger but again this is just a sign of stress and taking cuts right now would do 2 things. #1. greatly limit the number of successful rooted clones and #2. I have been growing for 40 years, this is not my experience at all. And successful cloning involves a minimal amount of effort-water, root darkness and low level light intensity. Here’s roughly 24 strains in the corner of the veg room, 100% success in fourteen days just changing water every other day. There is no difference in the success rate of cuttings that are 5/7 finger, vegging, semi-flower punk rockers or full buds. I have rooted small buds on harvest day, they root faster and return to vegging faster than revegging a finished plant. The growth is odd for a month or so-then returns to normal…

While I agree there is no difference between 5/7 finger leaves cutting taking off. 3 fingers are an issue. I stand by my original statement. Do not take clones from the plants.

+1 for cloning isn’t difficult but definitely not easy and 100% rate ? - I’m personally trying to save a plant darted to flower under stress - out of about 30 clones I’m just hoping to save 1 ,
But then again I ain’t been growin indoors for 40 years

Just a basic soil grower. Three finger growth is not permanent and does not effect the plant in any way for the future. I don’t believe I have superior skills, at all. I don’t own a pH meter and have never used any other meter. I am newly retired from my professional life and have more time for my long time hobby now. Your “issue” with three fingers is not an issue at all, you just have to be patient. It is not permanent. Perhaps you could post a link or source to your assertion because I have never experienced, heard, or seen, of any adverse effects. That’s all….

Hey now lets not argue you both have your differences. but inside we are all the same. JUST TRYNA HELP EACH OTHER OUT. lol Im going to test it out for us all and report back in a couple months. Just one clipping each cant hurt. I believe the three fingers is from low humidity especially in the clone realm they love their humidity

I have like a 95% clone success rate out of 24 I lost like 1 or 2 to low humidity at the start. I love me some jiffy pellets for clones and seeds its so easy.

Do not leave your containers directly on the floor in cool weather, no direct intense light, change water every other day. No humidity dome needed, excess humidity causes top rot. Be careful when rooting buds that the tops stay dry, wet tops kill clones. Here’s a rooted bud (35 days of flower), two weeks in a coffee cup, now ten days in soil. She’s going to look funky for awhile, then she’ll be a happy camper. It does not effect future cuttings, etc….

I've also been growing over 40 years, and I don't know much. But I have found clones can be taken anytime with good success rates. I recently cloned larf off 8 week flowers. I've found vigorous fast growing plants to be the fastest one to root. Depending on my timetable, I'd clone now or wait.

Yea I dont have much of a timeframe too I get inspections in june so I want to get another harvest in

I never said it was permanent or did I state that a plant will not grow out of it.

Simple search showed this. Again I stand by original statement. Clones have a better chance with more fingers per leaf. Will it root maybe but what is the result a weak clone that take longer to root and than longer to become healthy.

I think 100% is impossible because there’s that factor of “life”

Sorry. None of this is correct. Go ahead and take your clones, don’t worry about its crazy growth because you are planning to veg it, aren’t you? And some kid’s blog that is just an opinion is not a legit source. The amount of confusion people apply to the simplest of plants, a WEED, smh…

It really is so simple after one grow for me its almost like wow why I didnt start this sooner. And all of the harvesting tips that i've been reading because im about to harvest like flush for a week or 48hours of darkness I personally think its all bs because i clipped a fresh branch quicky dried in 3 days and smoked a nug and it was clean and relaxing but im doing the rituals anyways ...fuck it

Don’t fall for the hype, it is really a basic plant. Use clean scissors, don’t wear “outside” shoes in your inside garden, invest in good timers and equipment-including genetics. No reason to pay outrageous $$ for any of this stuff.
