This was my go too back in the day.. even rode in on the ice with wearing a hip spika cast once. Put my leg between the handle bars. Got about 50 feet. Bam; into a snow drift.

Those look wicked man.. can you please tell me when you dropped the seed into that cup was the soil damp or pretty dry? Did you water till runoff or not?

Yea; wet until runoff; and holes in the bottom; so it can drain. Then keep it moist; but not saturated. You can stick a moist paper towel over the top or even saran wrap; if your in a dry area say below 60->70% RH. Temp 70-75f; seedling should have 80->100% RH starting out; until they get going; then it can be dropped down some. once wet; you can periodically re-moisten with spray bottle; if desired. Moist good; saturation bad.

Once the shells start to crack; and the tap root shows itself; insure your spraying/wetting the shell; so it can swell and shed is skin within a proper timeframe; don't let the husk dry out on the emerging seedling... Once the shells fall away; there's a membrane underneath that it needs to shed; sorta like a caul or cowl on an infant.

Caput galeatum is the membrane on a human child; happens in about 1/80,000 births and is harmless; needs to be taken off the babies head.
Same thing happens inside a chicken egg also; if you look closely; there's always an inner membrane.

Re-cap; moist but not saturated. Drip dry; holes in bottom along edges cut with sharp blade.
