homes are usually way above 500ppm…..like 7-1150 range……a lot of people don’t realize that their space in their home is way above what the outdoor ppms are…..I got a meter just to see and theirs times when I’m deadlifting in my basement that my ppms will sky rocket damn near 2000ppms

Homes stay within the 400-800 PPM range unless people are actually in the room breathing. I run a sealed grow room and the levels will drop to around 300 PPM's if im not running my tanks.

As for your basement, you may have a furnace or something burning natural gas or propane to be emitting that much CO2. That CO2 won't be good for growing because of the other off gases created by whatever is creating that much CO2.

I’m down there working out all the time and I have three very large snakes in that basement also cats sleep down there

I’ve seen it get close to 4000 when a couple buddies come over to help me trim I gota open the windows to air that bitch out…..it’s a 750 square foot basement so it don’t take much. also pulls air from upstairs in the grow room from negative pressure

CO2 is heavier than air so it drops. CO2 in your attic will always be well below ambient CO2. Ground level will be ambient which is highly dependent on your location, altitude, etc. Since CO2 drops to the lowest point, obviously your basement will have the highest CO2. In Canada, it's fire code to have not only smoke detectors, but CO detectors, not CO2 detectors. That's because a furnace pilot light produces CO (monoxide), not CO2 (dioxide). Venting your room, cold air return, or/and an hvac will evacuate CO2 to ambient, which can be as low as 2-300ppm. Overall, CO2 levels are a function of your location (urban vs rural, weather, altitude etc) but in general it's rarely over the 450. If it is, then cool, your plants will live. But it's still not enough to push them. Canopy Growth in Smiths Falls Ontario Canada, CO2 is maintained at 1750-2500ppm in sealed rooms. (I live 30 minutes from them and know their operations intimately.) Anything above 3000ppm can be dangerous to humans, but not plants. The challenge is to avoid CO2 to drop below 400. Less than 400 and you're plants start suffocating.

The number of people in your household will also raise CO2 in your basement.
FYI: It would take about 30 big plants to use up the CO2 one person produces by breathing.

But the main reason a CO2 system is used, is to *maintain a high level of CO2. Relying on normal ambient CO2, with it's fluctuations, is like relying on window lighting for your plants. 4000ppm CO2 for a few days in a grow cycle won't cut it.
