currently using a 4x4x80" AC infinity tent (outside) with 5 autos growing, but i also have a 8x10 new vinyl shed that i was thinking of converting to a grow room.
i'd insulate and use mylar on the walls. i'd also wall it off to maybe 6x6 or so with a seperate door. i'd also use my existing tent for drying/curing.
is it worth the effort or not? cost would be small for me, but want your opinions please.
thanks guys

Where do you live? Summer temps? Just wondering if going into a shed with no ac and summer heat plus lights and stuff, sounds too hot to me.

Maybe throw a temp humidity sensor in there for a few days? See what you are working with?

How many open circuits do you have for power and can you feed 220v? And is there a budget cap?

I would keep it 8 x 10. Small light blocking entry. 3 or 4 600 watt lights. Using a 220v control board. And a substantial AC using a second circuit. With fans. Line it with 2" foam. Silver side in. Depends on temp and power.

Go for it man. Do the shed. All of these details can be ironed out and you know you'll like it better. More room and a sturdy structure. Grow all year and have a hide away from whomever

I vote shed. Make this a poll so I can vote 😄

Why not a greenhouse instead if doing all this outside?

i also have a/c units if needed, but the shed is in mostly shade.
vancouver island so temps are able to be controlled.
greenhouse would be to hard to heat or cool so no.
i'm almost maxed with only a 200 amp service to my house, so no 220 to the shed. but i do have 3 separate 15 amp plugs i wired in that i can use.
i was thinking of the silver sided foam, but wouldn't mylar be better as a reflectant?

Ahh. Then I would do something like 2 x 600 watt HPS. Or 4 single 315 watt cmh. Then use duct fans to control the temperature. As long as your summer isn't crazy hot it should be ok. Then you only need a couple out let's and you can max out the space for yield. Some good tape and that duraboard foam is good to use.

ok guys thanks for the ideas. i will be going with the shed, i was mistaken a it's 8 x 9 not 8 x 10, which brings up my next issue. height.
6 ft at the walls and 7 1/2 ft at the ridge. my plan is to wall off the back 6x9 and use 2 mars ts 3000 led lights.
i already ordered Gorilla Glue and OG Kush feminized seeds ($280 aargh) and they should grow anywhere from 30 to 60 inches tall. but, i never thought about the height of the pail. i'm growing in soil.
will i be able to train the branches down to 4 feet or so? with the slope of the roof i can probably only have the lights 6 ft high if their level. or could i run the lights with the slope of the roof?

You can top and train the height down. Grow a low wide bush.

i was hoping for that answer. thanks
next question, would i be able to build a 4x6 ft bed for all 4 or 5 plants but only 1 ft tall. i don't know if roots always grow down or if they grow sideways or both.

Honestly you don't need to. That much space you could just get away with like 4 5 gallon pots. Maybe 6. Will make watering and feeding more efficient. Easier to work with.

I'd go simple like this. And use a false wall to keep the light from leaking out. Filter the air and stuff in the front part. Have this be 3/4 of the shed.
