Hi, I am new to growing and really want it to be a success. I am researching all of the best methods on what the process from the seed being germinated all the way to its position in the hydroponics tank in the grow tent. So far what I have is it seems that it would be best for me to make sure everything is set up, put the seeds in a cup of water and place them in a closet upstairs or some place where it is warmer for a better germination process and this is possibly a 4 day process, then this is where I get lost. What do I do after they sprout in the cup of water, I was going to use one of those cone looking sponges to place the plant into the hydroponics unit with, but that could change with better ideas. Do I somehow grow the plants to very little plants in rockwool after the water and then transfer it to the cone sponges? Any help is greatly appreciated, I am searching through the site and have found some information on germinating and germinating for hydroponics, but I could not find all of the answers that I needed to my unique setup.

When your seed sprouts a tail, transfer it carefully into one of these or similar: https://www.amazon.com/Rockwool-Stonewool-Cuttings-Propagation-Hydroponic/dp/B07KBZM7GN/ref=sr_1_2?crid=6N68ZZ88GPQM&keywords=rockwool+starter+cubes&qid=1655949300&sprefix=rockwoll+starter+cubes,aps,289&sr=8-2

I'm a soil grower so for further help, I'm going to step aside for the hydro guys. @Aqua Man is our on staff hydro super hero. There are others who will likely chime in.
Okay, that helps and then after that I am going to secure the plant into one of those small sponge cones, as seen right here?: https://www.amazon.com/Sponges-AeroGarden-Eco-Friendly-Starter-Hydroponic/dp/B08KRZQTV5/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=grow+sponges+for+hydroponics&qid=1655949754&sprefix=grow+spong,aps,149&sr=8-5
And to do that I have to slice it down the side and wrap it around the upper roots of the plant? Does anyone have any idea how those cone sponges are assembled into the hydroponics unit? That is something else I have been trying to figure out. This is the hydroponics unit that I got: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09H3CPLTS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

I think that I figured it out, finally found a video. It seems the solution is to use the glass of water in a dark warm room for four days with changing the water daily is best for germination and then after that then damp rockwool type stuff and then you transfer it from there when it is big enough, leaving it in the cube and placing it beneath the beads of the hydroponic system. That is the conclusion that I have so far, not the most thorough answer, but it should be enough.

goodluck on the grow.
I think you need to Rinse and PH the rockwool before use, here's more info ;

Hold iff until tomorrow if you can… dont soak more than 24hr. I do 16-18hr then into paper towel.

But ill git ya up in the morning and we can go through every bit of equipment and processes You need to know and understand

Okay perfect, thank you! I am not starting probably for another week and a half or so, I am just trying to prepare so that I am ready to go when everything is here.

My method is put seeds in glass of water and wait till they have 2-4cm tail usually this take 2-7 days but never changed water but sure no harm if you do that. After you see decent tail i put them 4cm x 4cm rockwool cubes, I dont soak cubes before with ph water or anything just using my tap water what is about 8 and they growing fine but sure no harm again if you ph water.

Ok so in hydro you will need:

Ph pen
Ppm meter
Very soluble nutrients
Ph down in the form of phosphoric acid
Air pump
Air stones

Is this going to be a single bucket ir rdwc?

Can you list the equipment you have already purchased so i can see what you need.

What is your budget?

I’d add to the soluble nutrient comment. I’d recommend the op look at dyna-gro products. Very simple for a newbie having a one part solution rather than part A and part B.

I recommend Canna Aqua line and cannazym but not must to use just help with roots pretty good. I go with their nutrients schedule sometime little bit less or more depends hows plant looking but no need for ph - or + they stable it good and havent used ph meter many years now but it will help if problem coming and ec meter same. I use NFT but pretty same than DWC.

Hey, thanks for responding, so this is what I ordered and I am starting to have second thoughts about it because of the space that the plants have from their regions of initial growth and I am worried that it will cut down yield significantly if I do not put more room between the plants it I want the projected 14 to 18 ounces per plant as the seed is advertised. Here is the link to the first hydroponics kit that I ordered, I really feel like I ordered something inappropriate for the level of growing that is required. But, I am not sure yet. I am growing in a 4x4 tent that has everything you can think of for it, that is 6.55 ft. high. If I use the current setup that I have, I have no choice but to germinate inside the sponges and then transfer them into the hydroponics kit after they have germinated in the sponge and sprouted leaves. I have all of the PH stuff, Flora series hydroponics nutrient supplement, Great White PRPSGW04 100049823 4 oz Mycorrhizae, 4 Ounce, two air purifiers one in and one out that is blowing into the intake fan then one purifier inside along with a good humidifier and measuring systems, 1k watt light that is 3x3feet. My budget is limited at this point I would have to make returns unless it was reasonable, I should have everything that I need other than if I want 14 to 18 ounce yields, I just do not have what I need. Which is unfortunate. you would think it would be able to grow to its potential with the two tanks placed in the center of the room. Let me know what you think.

edit: Would switching to a setup like this with four plants put out more yield than 10 plants in the system that I have? Or was I correct in buying this and I still have a shot at max yield? https://www.amazon.com/VEVOR-DWC-Hy...cphy=9029970&hvtargid=pla-1603465801855&psc=1

You should get a grow or two behind you before worrying so much about the yield. There is a big learning curve to get through first. Learning how to mix nutrients, setting light intensity, maintaining environment, keeping a hydroponic system clean, etc.

Right, but, trying to go for the yield now is a good place to start.

These are the seeds that I purchased, you can see some pictures other people have with their setups of the strain. https://ilgm.com/products/runtz-feminized-seeds

Right, but, trying to go for the yield now is a good place to start.
I've been growing for years now and I still don't worry about yield. I choose strains that are genetically capable of large yields, and then worry about keeping my plants healthy. It seems that in the quest of pushing for "more" or "faster" growth, we end up doing too much and actually harm the plant with the over-loving. Concentrate on keeping her green and healthy. Your yield will be better with a happy plant over a stressed out plant from all the over-loving.

P.S. I wouldn't really call Runtz a heavy yielder. It's a wonderful strain and absolutely worth growing but it's yield didn't come close to some of the others I've grown. I would be more incline to say that Runtz is a more "average" yielding plant that produces buds that are deliciously sweet and powerful. It's easy to grow and a great choice for anyone's garden ... just not the heavy yielder some of the other strains are.

I don’t agree and think you are going to be discouraged when you get much less yield than where you are setting the bar for yourself. I wish you the best though.
