Does plant age or maturity make a difference in your smoke?

Alright growers I have a question? Does maturity make a difference at what size or how old your plant is to get the best out of your grow? I will use two of my plants for an example (purple haze). The bigger plant is twice the age of the smaller group of plants. The reason I ask this is last night a friend told me he just got done curing one of his mother plants and that it was the best smoke he has ever grown compared to his plants that he harvested that were much younger. And he said he thought it was because of maturity. And truthfully, I really am not sure I by that theory, but I may be wrong.

Sounds like your friend has an 'old soul' OFF course the longer the plant is in veg the smoother it will be. That being said it runs counter to the mass production 'business' cartel model of quicker is better, so hold onto the guardrails and take a hit for yourself and let us know. Of course there are only two strains of weed: Good &Dankgoodness.

I have observed this:

When I keep a cut of a plant grown from seed, the plants cloned and flowered from the cut are superior. It doesn't matter how long I veg the cuts.

I need to know the science behind this. I don't want to say it but I think we're doing the thing.

I've done a little experimenting myself. Out of 50-100 different plants, there was no difference in taste or potency in any of the different strains/clones. Try it and decide for yourself.

Sounds like we have lots of opinions ,
Mine is yes a mature plant makes better product , in my limited time I’d say clones are even more potent than the parent if the parent is young , I’m sure there is plenty of no veg straight to 12/12 guys that will disagree

What about a taking a clone off a plant from seed and the clone being a little bit different after the first run every single time. They all change to some degree.

Weird because I have never had a plant stay the EXACT same from cut to second run. Little nuances change. But I'm also very sensitive to smells so
I'm trying to make mine different with different nutes and lights, still the same. In 43 years every single one has been the same. I'm trying to make this one different with changes to spectrum and nutes, but so far it looks the same.

I'm not talking looks or structure. I'm talking about Terpene profiles.
Got to wait and see, I'm trying to change this one with diff nutes. If I grow it the same as the original, it will be exactly the same. Terp profile is genetic, might be able to make slight changes by altering environment and feed though.

I think y'all busy don't have the same nose I do. I'm legally blind in one eye so I think my sniffer has always been extra sensitive. I'm not talking major changes but the are def differences in some of the smells coming from the plant from the first grow to the second. After the second grow, they mostly stay the same after that. I haven't grown the same cut long enough too know if outfit changes later on but they show change from run 1 to the second

I also have noticed the smaller I keep the plant, the more trichome production happens, up to the genetic potential of that cut/strain
