I just got a Spider Farmer SE 1000w grow light, i have a grow room (not a tent) and wanted to hang the light on the ceiling wich is made of drywall.. im afraid it wont hold a 30 pound Led lamp

Anybody got some ideas on how to do this?

Maybe i should build a PVC frame?

Like @Aqua Man said, a stud is your best bet. You can also find some really strong anchor screw sets nowadays that easily hold 70 pounds per anchor screw. They are easy to remove and patch too.

Toggle bolts you don't need to find studs 4" toggle bolt with a large washer and eyehooks on the flapper instead of the bolt...

I personally like these:

They are easy to install, and easy to patch over if you need to return the room to flat ceiling.

4 will give you 300# of anchor on 5/8 drywall.

Tents can be had for low cost. You can use the tent frame to hang a light and avoid punching holes in your ceiling. You don’t need to use the tent cover.

The safest and most useful thing to do would be to use a screw hook (or an eye screw). The hardest part is finding a rafter. There are electronic devices (stud finders) that cost about $30 that do this.

Pretty much what i used ^ .you could even run a strip of hardwood 50x20mm across the studs or rafters so you can centralise the light or some other material.

I think the others with the eye bolt/hook in a stud is your best bet. It'll be the cheapest and least cumbersome, while being sturdy. A PVC frame is fine, but will be somewhat in your way and cost more than an eye bolt. If you have a tent frame like someone else mentioned, then that could be used at no cost.

Magnets work great for finding studs too if you don't have a working stud finder. Run the magnet over the wall until it wants to stick to a nail under the paint. There's a stud. Might not work in all cases, but of all the stud finders I've owned the magnet has always worked better. I should mention my stud finders were either free or on the cheaper end... but magnets are typically cheaper yet or free :)

I think some/most drywall anchors are meant to be used on vertical walls (not horizontal ceilings) and are rated as such. Just because some anchor holds 50 lbs on a wall doesn't mean it'll hold that much hanging from a ceiling. It's going to be pulling on different parts of the wall/anchor.

Look in your attic and find which way beams are running. Use a stud finder to find them. Fund the middle of the stud. Drill a small hole. Then hand screw in threaded j hooks into the stud/beam.
