Doing Auto Flower. I bought a couple 27 gallon totes and I'm thinking 2 plants in 6" net cups? Maybe 2, 5 gallon bucks and the 27 tote as a return or nute tank? Any equipment you think I need?

I haven't done anything yet and I mean nothing. Might buy a tent but I can make one out of wood. The bathroom grows are over. I have everything for single 5 gallon DWC grows x2.

How much longer does this larger container prolong flowering? I know 5 gallons it's around 4 months till harvest doing auto's.

Id say for every week you veg it in hydro, you will need that big of a tent.

Example
2 week veg, 1 plant in a 2x2
3 week veg, 1 plant in a 3x3
4 week veg, 1 plant in a 4x4.
2 week veg, 4 plants in a 4x4
3 week veg, 4 plants in a 6x6.

That is if they are growing as fast as they do for me in my hydro systems. For one plant ever 4 weeks you will need to supercrop it to make it fit.

Double the veg time and the same applies to soil grows for those who might be interested.

I like one plant per every 2ft square of canopy space. I'd assume at least that much is needed if not more for hydro considering its rapid pace of growth. Unfortunately even with hydro's rapid pace of growth, it won't help your plants mature any sooner than its genetics allow. Your 27 gallon tote as a reservoir should be sufficient for 2 five gallon buckets. How much grow space you need will be determined by the size of your finished plants and that will vary from strain to strain.

In many ways it's much easier to contain the final size of a photo-period plant than it is an autoflower. For 2 plants, no smaller than a 2 x 4. Better would be a 2.5' x 5'. If you are thinking about more plants than 2 in any future grow ... get the largest tent your space and your wallet can afford.

Thanks guys I have 3 lights for a total of 350w. Room I have is 10x12 I'll be using a corner so I only need to build 2 walls, unless you think a tents better? I'd expect the way I grow a 4x4 would barely fit 2.

A tent isn't a requirement. I like them because it becomes a sealed environment once its zipped up. Temp, moving air, and humidity controls are required as well as "no light leaks" if you're ever growing photos.

A nearby drain is essential for ease of operation. Otherwise, changing the reservoir becomes a chore.

Bro my nearby drain is a window. I pump it all outside, yet its cold as fuck out, so i dont like doing this. I want a drain in that bedroom so bad, hell id even pee in it!

Also there are ways to go without res changes. I was going to make a thread on it, but I dont like arguing with people who are good at helping others and im quite positive im the only person on the planet who can go without res changes lol. . minus those aquaponics folk. I keep thinking im going to need to do one, but then after top off my ppms are down to like 250 or 300. . .so its like hmmm. . i test the water, I know roughly whats in it, and I add what it lacks. . . I switched up my calmag and ph up and am adding way less calcium now, and its so beneficial. I can say for sure I was running into calcium toxicity on near every grow, which will lockout other nutrients. Anywho it can only be done with live systems, so if your going the chiller method, and using corrosives to break down the cell walls, and adding enzymes to rebond the nutrients, yea. . .ur gonna have to do frequent res changes due to buildup of nutrients.

Didnt mean to create a debate lol, or did I? ;)

So that bathtub grow you did, where the plants streched hella. In hydro I feel we can get our lights a little closer, at least in my system I can. That said, as long as the nutrients are availalbe in the res, you wont see any burn by keeping your lights extra low. With 300w I would run 1 plant in a 2x2, perhaps 4 in a 4x4 but thats not alot of wattage. You would really have to keep them close to the plant to get max use out of them. IF it were me, and I had 300w, thats enough light to grow 1 plant in a 2x2. I dont know if the lights will fit in a 2x2 let alone your 27gal tote. . LIke what light are they? How big are they? Im quite positive this will be your limiting factor. You want to maximize buds, not stalks. If those lights are too far away your plants will never stop stretching.

Nope, no debate because at some point you do get rid of that water. A nearby drain (or window I suppose) for disposal makes it a lot easier. I've got no experience with a living system in hydro but plenty of it soil. The key to that is balance and that, which you stated above takes some skill.

I have a hole drilled in floor where I ran, telephone line, satellite and internet cables which I no longer use. All that's needed is some PVC for drainage, I'm working in a mobile home, room is 10x12. I'd like to do rdwc but not sure how that would work. I'll eventually go photo but want to get a room set up. Lights are small, SF1000D, 100w, TS600, 100w and a TS1000, 150w. They were for tub grows but I want that bathroom back.

@Cashmeh That Sour Diesel you're talking about was over 7 foot in a 5 gallon bucket, tub is 4' long x 2' wide and ceiling of 7'. I've got 2 more seeds.

Bro i meant 2x4 is for 300w. . not 2x2. . give me a bit, im high apparently. I had this paragraph all typed up and im like wait. . wtf is wrong with me. .I might have to continue this tomorrow lol. . i just worked my third 12 in a row :(
Can I see a pic of your light setup in your bathtub? Thats about a 2x4 setup correct? So what id do is the same thing, but with one tote. 2 plants on opposite sides of tote, ecoplus 396 pump with filter and venturi fitting and one small quiet airpump. Calmag from athena, balance from athena, flora trio, and any bloom booster people on here use successfully in hydro. . . Then pick live or sterile and yea. . 7k lux until second set, then 15k lux until 3rd set, and so on. . max lights 12 inches away by week 3 unless you see leaf damage or root rot. . Fun fun
