Hi all! I'm terrible at judging trikes and pistols to see if I'm ready to harvest and I'm trying to learn and get better. I Do for the first time see a little amber so I think they might be ready, but do these trikes look milky to you guys and the buds and trikes and pistols ready to harvest? Thanks for any input it's much appreciated!

you really need to wait for more amber tric, looking delicious tho weldone sofar, remember very important stage still after harvest

Don’t judge by the trichome stalks, only their heads. And only the ones on the calyx’s. The trichomes on the sugar leaves will mature faster.

Thanks for the advice everyone! Also, T_Dub, that's what freaks me out a little. I flipped to 12/12 72 days ago. That's the longest I've gone with any of my grows. Seems TOOOOO long but whatever, the buds will tell me when they're ready I guess. (or you guys will, ha.) Any idea why it's taking so long? I thought "Apple Fritters" was a "63 day strain" give or take but I can wait another week or so for sure.

Yes, My “7-9 week” Blue Dream strain just finished up with one plant ending after 8 weeks of flower and one ending after 12 weeks of flower. Just have to go by what she’s telling you. You’re close…..

I've been surprised at how many "8 wk strains" have taken me 9+ weeks to fully mature.

No those are not ready...let pistils fully brown and recede into bud. I've seen plenty under ripe buds, but not many "over ripe".

Love to hear this Couple questions. Are the trikes in my photos milky or still mixed clear and milky, or not milky yet? Also, what visual clues will i have if a bud starts to over ripen other than way to much amber? Thanks!

I do not go by trichromes at all as they can be very deceiving. Look up "Zeus method when to harvest" rollitup. I go by pistils and overall look. When they're ready they almost have an orange hue to them like they're glowing.

orange hue, thats from the amber tric no. after it turns amber doesn't go other colors its just going to deteriorate the thc levels i would let them all go amber like that post suggested unless i want my weed to make me sleep bro but that my personal opinion and i may be wrong

No offense...you're wrong lol. Anyone who's smoked weed long enough can think of this...when have you ever bought weed that had white pistils still on it? Or long orange hairs still sticking out?

I have grown many plants with orange pistils sticking out after they have been dried and trimmed. Secondly the white pistils will turn orange once you start drying out the plant.
That plant in the OG picture is close but probably a week or so to go

I've grown and tested lots of weed and I strongly disagree. White hairs will turn orange after chop, and some strains never fully recede. Amber trichs is overdone.

As you will see OP, opinions vary. Best advice I got when I was learning when to cut was to wait until you are sure she is totally ripe, then give it a week. Seriously tho, it’s a matter of preference. Once you hit the point you are at, perhaps a bit beyond, I would start taking a small branch and hanging it each few days or week until you finally chop. Mark which is which. Try them after you dry/cure and see what you prefer. I prefer mine on the earlier side. Less “narcotic” feeling imo. My neighbor thinks I’m an asshole for harvesting when I do, but that knockdown effect is what he prefers. One of the best things about growing your own personal is being able to fine tune your crop for what you prefer. Sorry for rambling… Seriously faded for it being this early in the evening! Lol

I guess you also harvested many too early I'd say...

Great stuff guys. It seems real simple now. It's all about feel, smell and "look" I'm going to start my flushing process now that I've seen an amber trike or two. 4 or 5 more flushes in the next 8-10 days outta get 'er done and they should be ready to chop. That's for confirming my suspicions which were the reason for the OP in the first place. I think I harvested a week or two early last time with this strain and it doesn't get me as baked as I'd like off one hit. Usually takes a couple which is still fine but other strains I've grown seem to be ready after 63=65 days and are insanely strong. Hopefully letting these go longer this time will make all the difference. Thanks!
