The only issue with my setup has been humidity control. I can't for the life of me raise it higher than 30%, even with a humidifier continuously going.

Genetics:
Fresh Candy Autoflower - Pyramid Seeds (over 6 years old!)

Okay, let's start with a little background:

My first grow was a little over 6 years ago in college. Didn't really go well - didn't grow with any nutrients, only used cfls, no real effort etc. I think I ended up with a measly 18g yield lol so after that, tucked away the other 2 seeds I bought and completely forgot about them. Well a few weeks ago, I was cleaning and stumbled across the little plastic case with them inside. I popped the seeds in a paper towel and bag and decided to see what happens. Lo and behold, one of them grew a tap root! I popped her in a little solo cup and decided to see what happens.

The seed sprouted on 12/7, however the shell became stuck on one of the cotyledon leaves. I tried to remove it gently but couldn't without risk to the leaves, so I left it. The partial helmet head definitely caused some abnormalities in the first true leaves and 2nd 3-point leaves (can still be seen in the pictures). The shell is actually still stuck to the old cotyledon 😂

So now here we are, approaching the end of week 3! She's now in her final 1 gallon pot and loving the new LED. With the seed being over 6 years old, I've definitely noticed some slow growth. I could be wrong, but it feels like the plant isn't stretching as much as it should (let me know your thoughts). Otherwise, the new leaves coming in appear to be very healthy and I can see some of the pistils coming in!

Since the seed was older, I'm definitely trying to be careful not to stress her out too much. Because of this, I've been a bit hesitant to begin trimming. I'm wondering whether I should wait to remove the deformed first sets of leaves or if I should get rid of them now? Or should I just keep them for the timebeing? Also I was thinking if beginning LST starting Wednesday, thoughts?

First time posting here, but love the community! I appreciate any input you guys have. Or feel to just sit back and enjoy the updates!

Lots of blue light will keep the plant squat and thick by reducing stem elongation and encouraging leaf growth specifically. Full Spectrum light is better for more natural growth like a real “weed”. You can start low stress training plants whenever you want in my opinion as long as they have something to train! Just be careful not to snap the stems I can’t tell you how many times I’ve accidentally FIM’d my good plants just from touching them too much lmao.

Possibly grab a little bigger humidifier if it will fit if not maybe put outside and run a tube from the out feed of the humidifier into the box 📦 nice little set up !

Appreciate it bro! I didn't realize the blue light would reduce stretching. So would running both the veg and bloom on the LED help provide a more full spectrum? Then switch over to just bloom once flowering starts?

Yeah in terms on LST, obviously not much to work with yet. And yeah, she's still got a fairly thin stem, so I'm definitely trying to be careful. I may let her grow up another week before I start start LST.

Do you think I should remove the first 2 sets of leaves that were deformed?

Yeah I'm thinking I just need to bite the bullet and get a better humidifer. I'm just being cheap lmao. Trying to keep it fairly hidden, so going to see if I can find something to keep inside it. Thanks dude!

Oh yeah I forgot to address the humidity issue if you are using a wooden box it depends on type of wood you use I built one out of regular plywood and 2x4 a while ago and had the same issue around 30% 35% even with humidifier I think the wood just naturally absorbs more moisture like cardboard almost. I ended up going back to a tent.

So it's actually made from just PVC covered in reflectix. So really have no clue where all the moisture is going 😂

Environment is the worst to dial in but you will figure out. Luckily low humidity is not the worst issue ever you can still get some crazy smoke

For sure, it's definitely been a struggle. But I've enjoyed the challenge so far haha

Flipped the bloom lights on too, so I'll keep yall posted over the next few days!

whats the ppfd at the canopy now?

@DelaGrow welcome back to growing bro, this time round your gonna be growing fire lets go!!
Hell yeah, I'm excited to give it another shot. This is more or less a fun little experiment. Will definitely be doing subsequent grows after this too

I got around 270 at the top. Light is around 24 inches from the top
what light cycle are you running?

seedling around 250
veg around 600
flower around 900 (if you can)

gradually increase..

Your plant looks very nice, you are doing a good job. I don't see a fan in your tent, do you have one?

Thanks!! I have 1 intake fan, and 2 PC fans for exhaust. Typically I have another oscillating fan in there, but took it out for a day to help increase my temp while I was out of the house.

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions yesterday!

Got the full spectrum light going and moved her up a couple inches closer. PPFD levels are around 425 and will keep getting her closer to 600

She seems pretty happy!

Just wanted to give a small update:

I moved the plant up a bit closer to the light. Top of the canopy is receiving 550 ppfd now. Haven't noticed and light burn from it and she's starting to stretch a little more, so I think she's happy!

Today starts the beginning of week 4. Gave her some water and just upped nutrients from 1ml/l to 2ml/l each (6ml/l total). Will gradually work up to 4ml/l (12ml/l total) by week 6 and continue at that rate through flowering.

I also started light LST today. She already had a slight lean, so I gave her a little extra nudge over to that side, and am using a twist tie to hold her down.

I'm also thinking of removing the bottom single-fingered leaves, as they don't really seem to be adding much. Thoughts?
