Hey Growmies! Okay, I usually post stuff about my grows or if I can't solve a growing issue but I got a different question for everyone tonight. The past 4 years or so I've always sought out breeders like 420 Fast buds aka lower priced genetics. Don't get me wrong! I love fastbuds stuff and will continue enjoying their strains but I'm at the point where my bud is about as good as it's going to get for these genetics! My buddy sent me a Christmas gift of some Funky Charms by Exotic Genetics ( Flower not seeds ) and it was instantly one of my favorite terpene profiles to ever hit these taste buds! So, I got to looking abd find Exotic Genetics Seeds on NASC. Very good seed bank! My question is do you all think making the jump from lower priced genetics to something like exotics would greatly improve quality of the experience? Better high? Better taste? Better terps? I know everything exotic is breeding that I've smoked it loud as hell! Grease Monkey just one of theirs! Didn't mean to ramble guys just lmk what y'all think? I'm really wanting to invest in better genetics soon!

Probably try and get some in next couple days...

Genetics is one of the most important things IMO.
One we have little control our selves over after purchase like grow conditions.
I think quality is worth it.
We have some great clone suppliers here.
The place I live man is just pitiful. Stuff is legal here but I live in SWVA In the lower part of VA and they just ain't no dispensarys or anything here yet! People drive a hour to the closet dispensary! I ain't never needed to go

The quality of genetics are the most important part of a grow. Obtaining higher quality in whatever metric (terps, thc, disease resistant, yeild, etc) will make your experience better. Still have to grow it well of course. My growing became exponentially more enjoyable when I obtained high end stuff. I did that by purchasing clones but it all applies the same.

Better is always subjective. Like wine. Doesn't matter what it costs. Matters if you like it.

I will say that generally better genetics will almost always yield better results but, again, depends on the consumer. I've smoked super frosty dank that was meh while having smoked shit that smelled and looked terrible, but it put me on the floor with just a couple hits.

Think of it in terms of the analogy "Garbage in, Garbage out". You start with crap you're going to get....crap.

I think your best bet is to not run autoflowers n switch to photoperiod genetics, also running clone only strains has been a great shortcut that got me producing AAAA grade flower a lot faster than I can find great stock out of pheno hunted seeds mysejf

Ive slowly stopped growing autos cus I don’t want to smoke them when I have such fire photoperiod jars sitting around.. just had less value to me now even tho I still have 8-10 autos going now my auto space is slowly turning into a mom n clone room

Yes. Running clones will get you to flower faster.

All seeds shop i ordered(mostly europe) want more money for better seeds and it is totally worth it imo. This doesnt count for 100% of seeds and headshops but my personal experience is that the quality of a 10$ seed is mostly better then a seed for 6$ in this shops. Somewhere between 8$-12$ when you take 10 seeds is my range atm. If you go from seed you will take somewhere between 3-4 months to grow, then cure, then smoke. It is like half a year time you will spend with this seeds. Dont save your money at the wrong place.
Spend more -> enjoy more.
Thats my personal oppinion ofc, for the european headshops i ordered. I would suggest to try some online, but getting only the pricier seeds from the sites.
As some said before: Genetics is key.

Cookies genetics must grow themselves for that price... Lol

Genetics are the most important factor for the potential of higher quality flower. Our goal as the grower is to maximize that genetic potential. If you can keep clones alive then paying $200 for a 10 pack of seeds is really not a lot of money at all. Even if you're not able to keep clones, $10 a seed is well worth it in my opinion to greatly increase the potential for some fire.

The more stable the genetics, the more consistent the outcome will be. A lot of strains from Exotic Mike will have a decent amount of variability. Any of these breeders that are putting out over ten strains a year will have a lot of phenotypes in a seed pack. Which isn't the worst thing, but something to account for.

If you're going with a breeder like Exotic Mike then I would recommend growing out all 6 Fem or 10 Regs and phenohunt them to increase your potential of getting something special and what you're really looking for. Something like Sour Diesel IBL from Katsu would be much more consistent with the phenotypes in the pack. Anything F3 and up will be more stable. BX (backcrosses) will be too. F2 seeds will be the most unstable. Things to think about if you're choosing photoperiod seeds. If possible, it's always better to phenohunt a pack, but not everybody has the space for it at home.

There's some impressive autoflower breeders out there now if you want to still go that route, but from what I've seen and in my experience growing auto's and photo's over the last 13 years, if you have the space for it, photoperiods are still superior. NASC is a great seedbank up in Maine where I live. Twenty20 Mendocino, Barney's Farm, and Memphisto are excellent autoflower breeders. Seeds Here Now also has a nice selection of Exotic Genetix seeds if you're looking specifically for them. Have fun seed shopping!

Hit up @Trustfall his stuff looks phenomenal, and everything ive seen others grow out have looked fire as well. Genetics are the biggest factor to quality if you ask me.

Find you a breeder that grows his own genetics 🧬
Here's why I like Trustfall.

-Not only is his stuff straight fire and sourced from some of the elites, it's affordable for people like me who can't spend lots on beans
-He is knowledgeable of his stock, you can tell him if you're after a strong high or something smelly and he'll hook you up. Not only that but he'll be straightforward about anything you might need to know
-Most importantly I think, he's accessible. Even when I message him some crazy off the Wall questions he gets back to me and offers advice and input. I learned recently that's not something all breeders do and I very much appreciate it. It goes a long way

There's many more reasons why trustfall is the man in my book but I'll leave it at that lol. Not trying to be a genetic groupie like them dudes in the Instagram lives but the guy really has done a lot for me and is one hell of a grower/breeder 🌱
