Hi All,

Looking for input from the experienced folks. This auto started it's life around 10/20. I had it in my basement which got super cold and it stunted this guy a little. It's been healthy for the last couple months but that definitely affected the end result. This was a free seed from Twenty20, strain is Whiskey Zulu. Wondering what your thoughts are about how long before this plant is ready for harvest. Trichomes still look clear so no data there. You may be able to zoom into the picture and see yourself. iPhone 14 Pro camera is good enough I don't think I need a magnifier.

I agree with........wait, are you a moe. fan?

But yeah, let more of those hairs turn, they're still searching. Another rule of thumb i like is, when you think they're ready, wait another week. ;)

Good time for a quick question? Something I've always wondered but never tried......has anyone? I'm talking about pollinating just a few days before harvesting......just enough to cause a little calyx swelling? What would that do?

Thanks all. This will be my first grow to completion, though I have a photoperiod that I put more attention into. That will probably be another 5 weeks or so.

Environment and genetics will make that decision. Less environment, more genetics with auto I think.
I wonder if an AUTO should finish itself and it be clear when it is done?
So little control with autos IME I would grow it to close to deaths door knowing what I know now, and I am the early chopper.

I cannot speak from experience. I hope I have not misled here.

I assumed that cannabinoid levels show the same traits as a photo in terms of harvest time. All of the cannabinoid producing genes come from the photo part of the ruderelis cross that produced the plant. I have never tested auto or grown one on purpose for that matter. Never looked up testing by others either but there may be some.

I’d be interested in learning more about this.

I’d expect the photo pattern of max thc production after pistol fade to follow with autos. Any evidence out there either way?

Who is the current auto flower expert on the farm?

i am no expert but i let one of my autos go in my greenhouse for months after i chopped the others planted at this same time, it kept growing very slowly and never really turned fully amber. It could have been a one off though

Oh jeez... if youre asking already you're in troouble lol πŸ˜†
At the very least 3 weeks like moe said but i think longer. πŸ€”
Patience is key. The plant will tell you when its ready. Check flower bract trichs when 90% or more of the pistils have turned orange/brown, ignire the trichs on leaves.

I was looking around for answers on this yesterday and came across a youtube video of a grower with a HUGE auto that had been growing several months. His point was most people chop too early.

I have not found a definitive answer from a trustworthy source on best time to chop autos. Now I'm beginning to wonder if the normal visual queues apply?

I'd still like to find an auto expert and ask some questions. Bump.

I tried autos for my first grow. That is, I thought they were autos. They were sold as autos. I'm pretty sure they were not, however. When I flipped them, after considerable discussion, they behaved like photos. So... Buyer beware.
