Hey everyone. Just my introduction. I'll be lurking through ya'lls posts and potentially asking a few questions here and there.

I have never grown cannabis, myself, but I've helped a few times with various stages of a friend's grow.

I've wanted to do something like this for years and what I've found to be the most appealing would be the Recirculating Deep Water Culture (RDWC) hydroponic method. I plan on building my grow in the next coming months by starting with a 4x4 tent and Spiderfarmer's SE1000w Light. I may or may not get their fan kits and tent as I've considered piecing it together myself. After a few harvests, I'd like to add another 4x4 tent to either have 2 grows going or to just house mothers.

I'm building my own system and plain on four 8 gallon totes with another for the resevoir. Ideally, I'll have a 32 gallon trash can for topping off. I don't think I'm gonna run a chiller with this first go, but I may put a window A/C the room. I haven't put any consideration into nutrients, yet. That and wondering about water changes is what led me here.

I just ordered 10 Jungle Cake X Wedding Tree seeds from NASC for $2 apiece. I figured I shouldn't go spending a ton of money on seeds right off the bat and NASC seemed reputable from what I could find. I'm hoping to be self-sufficient as far as yeild goes. That means I'm optimistically hoping for at least a pound per harvest.

That's my goal and I hope to gain some necessary knowledge while lurking around. Wish me luck!

welcome brother, with what method will you be growing those seeds if the rdwc build is still so far off or are you saving them for then ✌️
I was just browsing seed banks and saw the $2 seeds on NASC. There were 40+ left and I could only order 21. I came back to my cart later in the evening and saw that there were only 10 left, so I bought 'em lol. Flipping through seeds and strains has been a little overwhelming so, honestly, I'm glad that part is out of the way for me. I'm going to try to only pop 4 at a time so I can hopefully get 2 harvests in before I gotta order more seeds. The downfall here may be that this strain may not stay available so if I love it, I may be SOL.

Now I can continue my focus on the build and the process. It's all so exciting.

Welcome to the Farm, if you like the strains you're growing then just before you flip them to flower take a few cuttings off each and keep the strains going. I don't keep mothers to clone off, I take cuttings just before I flip them and raise the cuts to clone off them when the time comes. Every 2 months you can flower the same strain again and keep the cycle going.

This is exactly why I'm here. Thanks for the input Pipe. I'll do exactly that. Do you just choose the plant that has grown the best or do you just cut from several. Sounds like a pretty cool idea to cut one from each plant. In theory, they'll react to my schedule the same as their parent plant, correct?

its is a good idea to take clones from the same mothers in an effort to maintain an even canopy
only take clones from the healthiest moms

I take cuts from all I want to keep, usually 2 cuts off each plant then cull out any I don't need. I've a problem with throwing out those I don't need though. I end up with too many I don't have the heart to kill.
For me the time between cutting and flowering is about 2 months, so I've nice sized girls to flip when my flower room becomes empty. I recently vegged 2 for 5 months. Cuts I couldn't kill but I didn't have room in flower so I kept them in 1 gallon pots for 4 months then transplanted them up and started to look after them...wow they took off and are now in flower....filling the back of my tent

Welcome there are lots of us who run a perpetual garden - always something flowering and always chopping! Lol

Browsing thru ur post I would suggest planning on a bigger light your gonna need about 480 watts from the wall to produce quality bud the sf1000 I’d only like 100 or 150 can’t remember - I use one in a 2x2 for seedlings and or clones

SE1000....is the is the big one,,,,Co2 ready....

I hope you don't plan on vegging with that light.......over kill X 10...

Honestly, I just figured with the light, it's "go big or go home." I was going for the brightest light that I could use for all stages. They've got a nice little chart that showed the height and brightness recommendations. I planned on dimming it down and brightening it up as needed. I guess I just liked the functionality lol.

I'm still in the planning phase, so I'm up for some suggestions. I've just read good things about that particular light and the CO2 ready function could come.in handy later.

light is lit literally. co2 ready? think the light is ready for sure, are you ready? dont go too close with lights without co2, are you growing in basement?

Welcome to the Farm! NASC is an excellent choice for a seedbank. It looks like you got one of the strongest lights you can buy for a 4×4 tent and it has a great full spectrum of LEDs. That thing barely fits in a 4×4, but it does and you'll get excellent coverage across the canopy. Probably won't need to run it at 100% except for maybe mid flower and Spider Farmer says it can get as close as 12".

Their website does have the PPFD map at 12" for a 4×4 tent and they're really high. A simple free PPFD meter app for your phone can help track PPFD. Here's some information I like to share any chance I get regarding scientific data on levels of PPFD for the different stages of growth.

Happy growing and never stop learning!
