Why do some people dip their buds in water before drying?

A buddy was just telling me about a video he watched where after they chopped down the plant, they dipped the branches in something liquid. I’m assuming water? Is this just for outdoor plants to kill critters? Inquiring minds need to know ASAP.

Bud washing go to YT and watch a vid on it

Its for bugs, debris and such I'll use 3 5 gal buckets with peroxide - lemon and baking soda - water - fan for 2 hrs then dry normally

Often done to remove contaminates from buds such as bugs, dirt, hair etc.

Generally not done with indoor grows without bugs in a clean room.

Outdoor grows can benefit imo from this but for the most part i see this when they have had issues with bugs.

I grow outdoor and wash my buds even if I don't have a pest issue... I have pretty bad allergies, if I leave all the pollen, dust, dirt and other air pollutants, on my buds, I couldn't smoke my harvest on a bad year without having an allergy attack of sneezing, watering eyes and hacking. Just think how sticky fresh buds are, anything that floats by is gonna get stuck... they're literally designed to catch pollen... even if you don't have an infestation of bugs, I'd bet money there's still bugs stuck in your outdoor grow. Even if you don't have a PM issue, there's likely a spore here and there. I don't eat veg out of my garden without washing and I don't want to smoke any extra bad shit either lol... It also makes the smoke smoother. There's many methods. I do a peroxide water dunk followed by 2 clean water buckets. It does affect bag appeal slightly and you lose a few trichs... but for me, it's a necessary trade off.
