It's gonna be a slow dance into this one as I prep & clean my g/room. Right now it's in nug squishin' mode but here's the line up planned for Spring/Summer 2023

Farmin the hot sticky at animals house

I'll be running three feminized cannabis strains, six plants total from Greenpoint, indoors.
Starting alongside the ganja are five strains of chiles, all from New Mexico State University Chile Pepper Institute, which I plan to focus on and pamper as much as I do the sticky mean green.
Not sure how many pepper plants yet but it'll be a couple handfuls and after starting indoors they'll go outside in Earthboxes.

Farmin the hot sticky at animals house 10

The soils and nutes will be organic.
Lighting is California Lightworks Solar System LED + UVB
Water is RO and air is fresh, no CO2

Other cool shit and grow amenities include a mini and large 3D printer, vertical germination, airpots, manual rosin press, custom control LED spectrums, SCROG trellising, freeze drying for extraction, experiment using an ultrasonic cleaner for extraction, and seeing what's up with an insanely expensive wall or ceiling mount orbital motion fan I'm pretty excited to stick in my room.
There's also gonna be outdoor gardening, travel pics, food pics, pet pics and who knows what else but I'm sure it'll be fun and interesting.😵‍💫

But like I said right now is squishing time!🥰
My room has been configured a lot of ways over the years. Today the grow space is all in one so the spaces left over from my perpetual days having 3 separate growing spaces, veg, bloom, & clone, has left me with the veg and clone spaces being re-imagined. The old vegging tent is now for drying and storage while the cloning station now houses a rosin press and mini 3D printer

Today's run included 4 bags of freeze dry nugs and 4 bags from a collection of bags loaded with frosty trim and popcorn. After this then I still have another 3oz in nug run material but no hurry on that so once I get all this squished then I can start popping beans and growing...

This is all from freeze dried nug run. An attempt at live rosin but without doing a dry sift and extracting from freeze dried flowers. I'm so ready to dive in with a terp pen🤑

Something I'm super eager to try is using my ultrasonic cleaner and iso on used rosin bags so after all this squishing I'm gonna give that a go 🥸

Bannana fruit cake sounds great!
How much in the bags?
I pressed over the weekend.
I stuffed 21g in 14g bags and presses 3 oz in 4 bags.

🥳

Nice!!! 😍
You got me trippin' on that pressure gauge! I was like WTF is that? Never saw that when I was shopping NS then I see they redid their entire product line up and don't even make my OG anymore!🥸

Anyways, I don't weigh, just go by feel, but I just put the rest of the bags on the scale and it looks like they're either 5 or 6 grams each and yield about 1 gram per squish. These are small, 2"x4" 120 micron bags and these plates are only 4"x4" so I gotta go small

BFC is a nice cut and this will be my second grow with her in the fold. I'm a sucker for anything banana OG.
The wild card here will be Screaming Cookies. Those are tester beans and I have no idea what they'll do!🙃

Nug smasher will buy yours back for if you want to upgrade.
The XP was close to $1200 and has 6x4 plates I think when I got it last year.
They usually offer you 80% back[ that would be $716 towards upgrade for the OG ]..
I tried low like you at 180 the other weekend but still ended up dark.
You got it going on strain wise and I am impressed and intrigued with your freeze dry..

I was checking that out! Looks like I would get almost $600 in trade in value towards an XP. Also started going down a rabbit hole wondering how hard it would be to add a pressure gauge to what I have and it wouldn't bee too hard but I would have to take it apart, get the jack out, and take it to a machine shop to drill the hole and thread it since I don't have the tools for that so IDK...we'll see

Yeah this Purple Crash is very light and almost clear some presses but I'll get dark too at 185. All depends on the weed. My last crop was squishing pretty dark too

3D printing. It's like having knitting as a hobby but way cooler.
Today's non-existent thingamajig that now exists...a wall mount 4 site terp pen charging station🤪
Also making a point to add a lot more USB outlets in here. 3 new work lights, vapes, and water vacuum are all USB powered and up until today I only had 2 USB outlets in the room. Now there's 8 😋

Well this is kinda disgusting and in need of a long overdue deep cleaning. 6 years of dust build up on the heat sink and fan housings

IMG 4245

So I'm getting fairly fed up with so much dust being created in my g/room. Pretty sure it all comes from the fresh air intake and the little bug screen mesh I have there between the outdoors and room might work to keep large bugs out but not dust and other fine particles so while everything is shut off right now, I'm addressing this with upgrades all over the place.

Now that I have a large 3D printer I'll be making a custom size and fit HEPA filter box on my fresh air intake.
Next I'll be bringing back an old 4" inline fan, connecting it to a carbon scrubber, and using it as a stand alone air scrubber inside the room.
And lastly the main air mover right now is a 16" Air King wall mount fan. It's going to be upgraded and replaced by a Ruck Optimus and I'll build a filter for it too since there's always dust on my fan blades after a grow

This new fan is a beast and should be delivered tomorrow

So hopefully these changes help keep the dust down next to nothing from here on out while also greatly improving air quality and flow in the whole room.
And that grimy light...After hitting it with the shopvac brush scrubber and an iso wipe down...Looking good as new and ready to grow something!

After

The Ruck Optimus is just a beast of a fan. At full power I can pretty much simulate a hurricane and it knocked posters off the wall across the room. The 120* sweep is baddass. And it should be quite ez to 3D print a filter house on it's backside

To continue air quality upgrades I decided to get the AC Infinity HVAC filter box and use Home Depot Premium air filters in it that will block just about everything including dust, mold, smog, bacteria, and pollen. This will be installed on the fresh air intake powered by a 4" inline

That fan looks like a beast!
I like the filter box too!
I will have to make one.. 👍

I'm really excited about the filter box. I tore out the fresh air intake yesterday and rebuilt it getting ready for the box.
It gets here today and I wanna look it over for possibly adding a stainless steel wort coil inside and pump iced water thru the coil to work as an air conditioner. I think I could also line it with a seedling heat mat and turn it into a heater.

After the air is fixed all I have to do is fill the water tank and this grow will be ready to start! Hopefully I get to drop all the seeds by tonight or tomorrow morning 😇

Excited to see the future!! Great prep = great results!

Happy to have ya looking in on this project Schwifty!🤘

I've tinkered some with that and keep going back in forth since these bags are small and hard to flip. I push in the corners to eliminate blowouts but yeah sacrifice some yield. Tried a reclaim extraction on some bags yesterday and it did not go well. Starting to kinda see lost rosin in bags like the angel's cut when aging bourbon

Closer look at some upgrades I've done for this room...

rebuilt fresh air intake with new critter guard and water supply line entering the room thru the duct.
All the utilities to this room are mounted to plywood covering the window to the room. Basically the window is boarded up inside and out, then holes cut for a window mount AC and electrical, water, and fresh air also routed thru holes cut in the plywood.

IMG 4307

The AC infinity filter box needed one end wrapped with duct tape to fit an HVAC tin elbow on it and I'm pleased to report HD's 12x20 filters fit this box. I saw some reviews say some filters won't fit this box and only ACI filters fit it but these HD filters are a perfect fit and are pretty much the best filters $ can buy for this sort of thing

IMG 4308

These filters are like a muscled up bouncer checking ID at the door and nobody is getting in

IMG 4323

It's big and bulky but pretty baddass. I have it powered up with a ACI Raxial fan and the fan is plugged into a Green Air Products Cyclestat timer for cycling timed fresh air injections to the room

IMG 4318

Cooling is supplied by a 500 watt, 5000BTU AC connected to an analog control day/night thermostat. This window unit is fairly old, about 6-8 years old, so I'll probably be looking to replace it after this grow. Above it are speed controls for the fresh air intake and air scrubber

IMG 4322

Just an analog guy living in a digital world with this command central.
I no longer use the timer on the Apollo light controller since the LED has a digital controller but it still supplies 20 amps of GFCI grounded power for the lights. Other than the LED though everything in here is still old school analog and still working great!

IMG 4321

And I've outfitted my room with these USB powered LED lights with moveable arms and they can swivel. These are great work lights in the room and also help a lot when I have a rosin squishing session

IMG 4324

And then there's the rewards for the weeks work...

Thanks Buddy!
Everything is ready but I keep finding new things to add or tweek a little so I keep pushing the start back until everything is just right.
A lot more seeds were added to the project. Lots of veggies and flowers so I'm making sure I have everything for that.
I also have some more 3D printed parts I need to make and design with the first being a custom water tray for the VG.

And it occurred to me that I can do a lot more with the UV system attached to the LED. Since the lamps are T5HO there's a lot more I can do with them than just UV during the last weeks of a grow so I'm gonna use some lamps called "Perfect Par" which is a veg spectrum to start then I have some red flowering lamps on the way and finally the uvb at the very end. All together it will be close to 150 watts of supplement lighting. So I'm waiting on those lamps so I can install them before I pop all the seeds

Also picked up a new tool for the 3D printer for those xtra large projects like a custom earthbox style tomato planter idea bouncing around in my noggin

IMG 4335

4 more net pots just about finished. I'll make a few more in red then I wanna do a few more one offs in multi color schemes like USA, Rasta, and black & wood grain

And while I'm trying to get this garden rolling...I got a little side project for the weekend started

IMG 4334

Gonna do Mexican brisket tacos Friday! 🌮😍

I cut the flat from the point and will just be using the flat for now. Got it all trimmed up then slathered on a ton of Cholula hot sauce follwed by black pepper and fajita seasoning

IMG 4337

It's gonna smoke for probably 9-10 hours at 250 then go in a roasting pan when it's around 175. In the pan it will get more hot sauce, a few cups of broth, and two sticks of butter. Then cover it with foil and put back on the heat, 250-350, until internal temp is about 210.
The brisket will be pulled, no rest needed, and all the juice in the pan will be sorted thru a fat separator.
Next the brisky will be chopped, the hot jue will be added as a dredge, and it's done!
Pics of the finished tacos will come tomorrow 😇

Germinating seeds will never be the same again🥸

IMG 4356

And I need a small watering can so I've got the 3D printer at work on that

And bbq taco zen..

Ignition!

Vertical germinator is loaded and the heat is on.
I'm using bottled Spring water and a swanky new 3D printed Darth Vadar inspired water can to deliver it
Also trying out a spare part rig using a dome for a rez and an old rockwool flat. I'm using wads of paper towels instead and have peppers planted in it

lightsabers on for now. Was surprised to see Agromax Pure Par veg light is blue. I have it in a fight to the death battle vs old school 6500K t5ho

IMG 4359

It's half time now. Still have more wads of paper to wad up and a flat to load with soil for traditional flower starting

those lights are tits man.. what a great idea!! holy smokes man, how many peppers are you planning on growing?!?!?!

speaking of peppers, man those tacos look killer!!! that brisky looks even better!! give me a pack of xl steak rolls, a slab of cheese, and some hot peppers and that brisket would be gone in a day!!!

that's a cool idea with making the multi colored netpots.. red/white/blue would be really cool, i might have to steal that one!! i like that huge caliper you got, thing looks like the size of my keyboard!! ha

i have an old cloner that i loved but the lid started bending and then leaking worse and worse till i just stopped using it, i need to draw up a new lid and get that back in action again. the original design worked fine till the thin plastic started bending. it was always so difficult adapting wood or metal to reinforce plastic, now we can just make the plastic part the way it should have been in the first place.

hope you have a smooth week brother, the weekend will be here before ya know it!!!!

How many peppers? All of them.😁
For real though man I'm just unloading everything into this project and seeing what will come of it. IDK if I'll get one pepper or 1000. I told my wife to start saving milk cartons just in case so I have some containers if they all sprout. I can't print out enough netpots in time if this all really starts to roll.

Man those brisket tacos were awesome!!! See those red onions...yep those were pickled by yours truly! Yeah that was a recipe that had my wife saying I'm more Mexican than she is hahaha!! Next time I do that I'll use green Cholula and a green chile rub...Hopefully a homemade rub if this pepper project works out. That recipe can also work on a pork butt.

Well I probably picked one of the busiest weeks of the year to start a garden but fuck it man I'm already 3-4 weeks late doing this. I gotta get some airpots cleaned up and put together today and start getting my head in the game because.....

We got action!!!
