Sorry, it took me a while to get back to you, electro. Here’s my take on it. My plants are big enough to not worry about overwatering anymore. So I’m not watering the plants anymore, I am watering the soil. Taking care of the soil. That is why the larger pots. They hold enough soil to retain moisture through these hot and dry spells. Which here is pretty much till September! Lol! Need to keep some moisture in the soil for the microbial life and for the evaporative cooling effect it has on the roof zone. The last thing you want is for the pot to dry out completely! So I dump a lot of water on them in the morning mainly the outer half of the pot until I see water bleeding out of the bag. Then I’ll slop on the inner half, but maybe not soak it to the bone. I just trying to maintain a certain level of moisture. Will come out late in the afternoon and dump some more water on it. just trying to keep water moving through the medium and keep things cool. Small pots will need more attention because they dry out faster. Just have to kind of eyeball it and learn from experience. And I reach under the pot and fill the bottom and if it’s still moist at the end of the day and I know I’m on the right track. Just don’t let the pot dry out. Should be OK. I don’t fuck around with any solar netting or any of that stuff. 35 and 40 gallon pots pretty much eliminate the need for that. All about taking care of your soil and the plants will take care of themselves. Have a good one talk at you later. it is 90% horse sense! Be the plant!
Wow! Thanks again for your wisdom. You share so much information with everyone. You're all over this site helping all. A big thanks to you and all the staff, supporters, and just the average Joe's who share their experience with everyone. While all the time being friendly, understanding, and genuinely caring about the outcome of a total stranger's grow and stash. THC farmer.com is the best site out there. Keep up the good work and thanks to all. I would like to think legal cannabis may just change the world.

You are included in that @Captspaulding . Your help and advice are priceless. I wish everybody lived in Albuquerque so I could share my bounty with all.

Consider yourself lucky I had not started drinking yet! That long, winded response could’ve been four times as long and far more tedious!🥴🍻

Oh no worries friend, your roof grow is a lot of fun to watch. I sure would love some of that fresh herb you got over yonder. It’s all right though, haunting you from the ether has to do until that fateful day 👊🏻😎

Sorry all, nothing new on the roof grow. We're just trying to survive the heat wave (the plants and me). Then off to the mountains and back to work on the house.......... The cycle continues.

We'll, I'm sure the dawg would be bouncing back quickly if we weren't experiencing record highs. She looks ok but could use a cool down. Big malawi looks a bit rough along with the tall blue dream "seedling". She's taller than everybody else. The little Malawi clone is looking very happy.

I feel the pain on the heat. #2 was supposed to hang out on my patio for a week and then my buddy was supposed to pick it up. Been lagging, so I've been trying to nurse it back to health no break in the heat in the Central Valley 🤦‍♂️

Damn, she looks like I feel in this oppressive heat. She’ll pull through man!

Yeah, been a struggle, but she has been resilient. Honestly thinking of hitting her with some sts and maybe hitting a nug on each plant in the tent 🤔
Why not? What’s the wet dry cycle on that five were you are? Is is daily? Or every other day?

I was trying to go every other day. But since it's been so hot I alternate day and evening so about a day and a half. Really hating it is in a bucket.
Yeah, I’ve used them in a pinch when I run out of pots sometimes, but unless you spray paint them, the light really does get right through those Lowe’s and Home Depot buckets. root hardening on the outside perimeter can really affect uptake. Sometimes that doesn’t even happen though, but it has happened to me in the past. Looks like she isn’t quite filling that root zone up yet though, so I think you should be ok in that regard.

Fingers crossed.
