Hey, folks.

I'm experiencing some unusual symptoms on my plants. I won't get into that on this thread as I've already posted regarding my plants' problems. However, some folks I reached out to have pointed me towards the possibility of Hop Latent Viroid. This was the first time I had heard of HLV and have been reading a little about it since. I'm skeptical that my plants have it. I live in a very rural area where the possibility of insects (as vectors) transferring HLV from neighboring plants is unlikely. Similarly, I'm not working with hops/nettle/cannabis elsewhere and so the chance that my hand tools were contaminated is also unlikely. And finally, I grew my plants from seed (rather than clones which, to my understanding, is one of the primary carriers for HLV).

All that being said, I guess HLV can be transmitted via contaminated seeds. Has anyone experienced this? I purchased my seeds online thru a source that I think others find to be reliable (North Atlantic). I understand North Atlantic works with a number of breeders and so it's possible one of those groups is selling contaminated seeds but gosh that seems unlikely, no? I think it'd be hard to remain competitive in the cannabis seed market if you were selling product contaminated with HLV (though accidents happen).

Just wondering what other folks' experience, if any, has been with HLV. Thanks for your time.. happy gardening!

I attended a seminar at last year's CannaCon on HLV'd. It's pretty terrifying to be honest, and yes seeds can and do carry the virus. The only way to get rid of it is by doing a tissue culture.

Here's a little info from my notes in this post - https://www.thcfarmer.com/threads/is-this-the-hop-latent-virus.135533/post-2857023
