Hey what’s up yall, I’ve got this problem I can’t figure out with one my plants.

It started a few weeks ago when I transplanted from one gallon to 5 gallon pots. It began as edge curling or tacoing on the older growth towards the top of the top of the plant.

Over the course of a couple weeks watering with microbes only, the problem seems to be getting worse and affecting the whole plant, old and new growth.

The old growth is tacoing, the new growth is looking burnt.

The plant is is in happy frog amended with:
-2tbsp/gal Gaia 4-4-4
-1tbsp/gal Gaia 2-8-4
-2tbsp each epsom, gypsum, azomite.

The rh is between 40-45 and the temp stays between 72-78°.

The plant next to is in the same soil, same mix, same seeds same everything and absolutely crushing it.

Any ideas y’all? Thanks in advance!
(All the pics are from last night/ this morning, I removed a bunch of the damaged leaves in the process)

Oh yeah the light is sf2000 set to 50% about 20” away.

The floor fan in this tent is also stronger than I like, so windburn and transpiration issues could be a possibility maybe?

I rotate the pants daily to combat that idk

IMO only!

I’d back down the epsom : gypsum to 1tbs/gal, (once per week) azomite is optional to reduce or not, I don’t even add any unless I start to see a def, I’m about 3 weeks into flower and have added none so far, don’t normally need to add any until week 3ish of flower usually before it really starts to want some.

imo Your feed rate is very low I normally feed at 3.5 tbs /gal but on both the 2-8-4 and 4-4-4 at the flip transplant and continue the 4-4-4 at half rate to the 2-8-4 when I go to do the mid flower top dress, but I’ve never amended, pre-amended soil like happy frog,

Old growth is tacoing probably from light or heat (possibly direct airflow) the new growth being burnt Id have to guess is hot soil as the Gaia is breaking down and the plant is now trying to uptake it, as happy frog should be good on its own for at least a month without adding anything.

How’s the dry backs on her? Taking longer or drying back fairly regularly?

I said it weird originally, it’s 2tbsp/ pot on the epsom salt etc not 2tbs/ gal my bad lol.

As far as amending the happy frog, I always start seeds in straight hf but start amending once I get into one gals and veg.

This plant did fine in the one gal mix, the only difference was instead of 1tbsp/gal 2-8-4 it was blood meal instead for veg everything else was the same and no issues.

The issues didn’t start til she hit the 5 gal and either A. Got closer to the light and heat I’m thinking or B. Didn’t like the 2-8-4 added to the mix?

I also try to let all my soil “cook” for a couple weeks to work on the breakdown so it’s not
So hot when the plants go in.

This bag was exceptionally low on perlite and aeration so that can definitely be considered, but I’m getting about a 7 day dry back on her. It’s not too far off from what I’d expect, the healthy one next to it is pushing 5 day dry backs now.

Edge curl and tacoing both suggest too much light to me. Did you turn your light up or move it closer at some point?
No I haven’t messed with the light intensity or distance for a couple weeks.
The only thing that changed In that regard was getting closer to light with the transplant

I want to think it’s light as well but the problem started at the top then seemed to work it’s way down so I’m not sure tbh.

Maybe turn down or raise the light higher. If you see improvement, then you know. Even if the issue is not caused by light, turning the light down on a sick plant is rarely a bad idea.

Yeah that’s true, that would atleast give me some clarity and help whatever the issue is regardless of light related like you said.

May raise the light and stack the healthy one on books or something, thanks for the input!

Check your soil ph, i know people say ph doesnt matter in soil but i certainly does. I burned a bunch of transplants because the soil was 7.8
Yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if something is out of whack. I might have a soil probe somewhere but my ph pen crapped out on me.

I’ve been watering in with distilled water, recharge, and mykos wp and haven’t checked ph once so I have no idea where I’m at.

Distilled water can cause some issues. Can you mix the distilled 50/50 with your tap water. Tap water gets a bad rap but its what i moatly use. Distilled for seed popping and initial transplant, filtered for first few feedings and clones. Then just tap water, left sitting in milk jugs for at least 24hours.

Here it is,

I’ve done that method in the past, letting tap sit in jugs to dechlorinate then ph adjusting to 6.5 and got great results.

I ditched the ph pen a while back though and went back to distilled. The tap here is pretty hard and comes out around 7.9 last I checked. I didn’t feel like buying a new one and keeping up with the probe, plus when I run bottles I run a ‘ph perfect’ line and don’t need to check or adjust. (Comes out at 6.5 in distilled water)

Between the microbes I use and that nutrient line when I feed bottles, I’ve seemed to make it by okay without adjusting or checking so hopefully it’s not ph related

Here it is tonight. The pots getting lighter so I know it’s uptaking water. Moved it out of the light and fan and will continue on.

A friend suggested an immobile micronutrient deficiency but I’m not sure considering the leaf tacos.

Maybe it is ph but how would it get so different from one pot to the next with all the same variables? I’m scratching my head

yeah, my feed drops the ph down to 5 at times, i wouldn't get by with out phing, what line do you use?
