What’s up growmies I’m on my second grow and I’ve ran into a lot more problems this grow than I did the first grow. I got 7 plants going right now and they are 3 months and 4 months old. They are Tiny. They have been through all the stress you can think of from being moved house to house to me being unable to see them for 2 weeks and then being bone dry and completely wilted. I should have let them die and started a new grow when I was prepared fully but 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m hard headed.
So moral of the story is the first 3 months of their lives they were completely misused and abused. Had septoria, had bug problems, environment problems etc.

Now I’ve got them into their final homes. They are in one gallon pots in a mix of fox farm ocean forest. The mix is soil from my last grow cut with a fresh bag of ocean forest. The soil from my last grow was flushed numerous times and the plants lived their whole life in the soil so it’s essentially just plain soil I’m using to cut the fresh fox farm soil.

Finally now that everything is fixed and their water schedule is down and the disease and pests are gone the plants have had some explosive growth. Suddenly, every single one of them is shooting out very lime green/ yellow leaves. I gave them a dose of Alaska’s fish fertilizer 5:1:1 at 1/4 of the recommended dose. Which was about 5ml to the gallon. Plants continue to grow great getting very big and filling out nicely but still showing the lime green new growth. That first dose was 5 days ago. They got another dose at half strength 8ml to gallon 2 days ago. Still growing strong and fast but all yellow. Am I not using enough nitrogen?
Temps are at 73 during the day and 69 at night with humidity sitting around 60 65

Soil ph when dry is at a 7 I add nutes to distilled water and the water will sit at a 5.5-6.5 ph. (I don’t have an accurate tester I can’t afford one currently). When I add water to my soil the soil ph will drop to a 6.2-6.6.

On these pics there is splotches and things I know this. Some if from neem oil spray. Some is light burn some is from a lockout I had or bug problems I dont need help on those because they are all old. I’m specifically focused on my new growth. I just haven’t cut out the ugly leaves yet. Any help to tell me what’s going on would be greatly appreciated!
Also some of my new growth leaves are praying not sure why this is either

Might not be a bad idea to give them somemacro nutrients. Some chelated iron can go a long way, foliar feeding is your best bet with that. Revive is a good one with a couple of those macros you're missing out on. Heavy foliar would be another good bet on boosting them back into their prime state

Also would be a bad idea to take a look at your bio availability chart for soil. I run coco so I tend to have to shoot for more acidic applications but for soil you'll want to hit a bit higher on your pH scale

I’m in the green zone for nute uptake so I don’t think that’s the problem. You might def be on to something with the macros tho I need to check them out

Hello and welcome t the forum.
When you start talking Organic potting mix and living soil there are a few little plays on words going on.

One Being organic. Your Ocean Forest is an organic potting mix but it is not a living soil filled with microbes and bugs known as the soil food web.
A fish fertilizer like you have added is a great fertilizer. When applied to a Living soil. The microbiology in the soil break it down into a plant available state. They eat it and excrete plant usable nutrients. You are actually feeding the microbiology in the soil itself.

A potting mix like Ocean Forest is a peat moss based potting mix with many amendments that can be described as organic.
But the potting mix does not have the living microbiology of living soil made from Composted vegetable matter, Leaves, grass clippings / Worm Castings that break down the fish fertilizer and make it bio available to the plant. You will need to find a fertilizer product designed to work with an
Organic potting mix like Ocean forest. Or use a suitable fertilizer from the hardware store.

i think you’re onto something here. I should stick with the fox farm nutes for the fox farm soil. Plant is having problems intaking nutes from the fish food bc there’s no micro organisms to break it down. I’m ordering fox farm grow big as we speak and cutting out the fish nutes. The yellowing looks like iron deficiency to me. I kinda had suspected it was something to do with soil health I just needed someone with a little more knowledge to fill in the gaps. Thank you guys 💪🏻 will update in a week or so After I hit them with a pure watering and then a nute watering with the new fox farm nutes.

I actually forgot to ask you about why you are using distilled water.
Off gassed city water or well water will bring the mineral content back up where it needs to be.
It's hard to say about iron at this time. The Fox farm nutrients will have sufficient micro nutrients. Don't go throwing a bunch of stuff in the pot.
She will pick up as soon as you start feeding the Gro-big.

The city water I have has chlorine in it and I don’t believe In “leaving it open to let the chlorine evaporate”. Also there is Chloramine in my water here which takes a week to evap and even then not all of it will be out of the water. I could start using spring water? If you think that would help

I use city water and have no issues and my city water sucks!!!! Getting spring water is gonna be costly in the end.... tbh city water is your best way to go.... distilled water is worse for your plants than your local city water no matter what

i mean I already account for the cost of distilled water spring water is the same price so it won’t bother me but is it good for the plants?

Distilled water is bad... has nothing in it and basically oxygenless... anything but distilled.... im using city water and just cleared a 2lb harvest off 4 plants... so city water definitely not hurting them
