This has probably been posted here a lot but I can't seem to find anything anywhere. I see everywhere that the optimal pH for soil growing is 6-7. I filled a 5 gallon jug and let it sit out for a few days. The pH started at around 6.2 and after sitting it now measures at 7.0 every day for the last week I've been testing. Is this an optimal pH for growing through the entire process? Should I attempt to lower it slightly? All opinions welcome. I'm growing in happy frog soil.

Depending where you look, you'll see some say 6-7 for soil. However I've mainly seen sorces say to stick to a pH of 5.8-6.2 for soil, so that's what I go off of and seems to work well. Lots of variables can change, so what might work for my setup might work differently for yours.

It's all about making sure the pH is within a range that the plant can properly uptake the nutrients. I'd say 7 is on the higher end of okay. If you can, I'd recommend buying a bottle of pH Down. It's been really helpful for adding small amounts to help regulate pH. It's relatively cheap for a good size bottle too and you don't need to add much at all (a few drops per gallon).

I gave up Ph-ing!!!!

However Nitrogen is best for uptake In a plant during veg at a 5.6 to 5.8

Flower ph is best on the 6.5 to 6.8 for phosphorus and K uptake for a plant...I forget where I learned this but it seems to hold some truths about ph levels and nutrient uptake phases

I didn't pH last grow, and definitely had some issues. Got a meter this time around and pHing because my tap water here is like 8 lol, so gotta bring it down.

Interesting about slightly higher pH during flowering. Makes sense though that eat main nutrient has specific pH needs.

Oh yeah I have the pH up and down already, it's just every time I used it in the past a single drop in a gallon raises or lowers it waaaaaayyy too much and I can never get it right lol. I also just pH tested my runoff and I got 5.6ish

I thought I read somewhere that at 6.2 it's locking out a certain nutrient although I can't remember which one

I always shot for 6.3. I’ve since left the bottled nutrients. Now I don’t have to ph my microbes take care of that.
Do you use living soil or do you add microbes to regular soil?

Nitrogen most likely as

Probably nitrogen... as the 6.2 sounds like flower ranges
