Good morning farmers, this series is coming to an end. Thinking about leaving them in the dark for a week then chopping. Anyone do this???
However I did chop a few buds off to try out.... Lol

yeh sometimes i leave mine a couple day, in the dark, never does any harm.

it depletes nutrients from the leafs i think, as normally i would see more brown leafs after a couple days of doing this. or the leafs drying out helps with the drying process. never really seen a major difference. after do a test on 2 identical plants. for instance leave 1 plant in dark then harvest the other one then, see in the end what bud where better.

No it doesn't, there's already a debate about this with a well known scientist (I forget his name) it's that guy that teaches the science behind growing bud in his videos on YT.

Anyway he argues that a dark period isn't beneficial, that scientifically what would be beneficial is actually giving them a final extended light period. I'll find the YT video where he address this dark period as "bro science" and not factual.

so when i have 2 identical plants, cuttings one that has been depleted off nutrients. and one that has not how come my smoke taste better of the one that got depleted of nutrients,? identical plants exact same area righ next to each over giving the same amount of water / food. the one thats been watered / depleted all ways taste better.

That's just personal preference man, your comparison is based on taste. People would have different preferences on taste.

I’m an Alabama fan. Half of the Alabama college team went to Miami. We don’t have a pro team here so I ride the bandwagons every year. I was a true Tom Brady/gronk fan growing up.

based on my own experiments / growing i found this to be better for me, everyone grows there own way. sort of thing.

I agree with you, I'm 4 maybe 5 weeks away from harvest and I'm planning on giving my plants a 48 hour dark period also.

But the science doesn't agree with us, (at least from what that doctor has said in his interviews) there's nothing beneficial for the plants in that dark period, it's only beneficial to our taste, to get the smoke profile we like.
