I’ve sent soil samples for all three of my 4x2 raised beds to Logan labs, that way I can re amend safely. I noticed all three beds have high amounts of sodium, I’m gonna go ahead and assume it’s my municipal water. The question I have for you guys is if I can use a regular tall boy water filter to filter out sodium levels or do I have to use RO instead?

I have Phoenix water which is high PPM and high everything. I just assumed building a big humic mulch layer and keeping things active with enzymes would counter balance the shitty water. Maybe I should flush a bit between grows to get some chelated sodium out of the bed?

I was advised to flush with “clean water” (RO water) and re test the soil, I did and it worked out. Been watering with RO ever since. After every harvest I send out my soil to Logan labs for testing. Soil has been pretty balanced with the recommended amendments. Also I haven’t had to flush since then.

Keep in mind that RO removes most minerals so something like BuildaSoil Big 6 or TM-7 (with iron) is a good additive to your water. . .

How much RO do you use to flush per cuft of soil?
