Question for you all. Actually two. I emptied my last grow they were all in 3 gallon pots with the same amount of soil. One of the pots was heavy, yet bone dry. Do some plants produce heavier roots? I may have underwatered them using the finger and lift.

Second question. I plan to up pot in a few days and don’t have much time on my hands. Is adding the soil to the forever home and letting the solo cups sit on the soil acceptable? I am using organic soil and I don’t want any insects causing problems and don’t plan to water. Just trying to make better use of my time.

First question, Yes. Definitely difference in root mass which can throw off the weights. Best suggestion, treat each plant and pot as individuals regardless of cultivar.

Second, Yes as well. I usually use a different solo cup to create a well in my pot and fill up the soil around it. You can then put planted solo in for a day or 2 to "acclimate." People say it helps the plant adjust quicker and reduce transplant shock, but I'm not sure. I just make the well and then ease the seedling/cut out of the solo and drop it directly in the perfectly shaped hole

Just a heads up. I ordered a PAR meter on Amazon just to see how accurate the Photone app is. The readings are pretty much the same.

2023 has been a really interesting,
Learned, dynamic and most of all FUN year….
the friendships forged with all of you crazy badass growers is invaluable! It’s great getting to share a craft that literally everyone of us loves.
The passed on methods, graciousness and good vibes are definitely what I had in mind when I made this thread. I know 2024 is going to be the bountiful, blessed and badass year that we can all look forward to .
