So yesterday I transplanted my 16 Cali-connect babies, all of them are on par together, except for 2 SFV that look like runts (half as big as their siblings), and they were in the same cup....
As I transplanted everything, I just dumped the cup upside down into my fingers to release the plants, then I would split the dirt in half between them and put each one into its own 1 gallon pot, Well, When I turned over the 2 Runt SFV's, I saw something I'd never seen before....
The tap roots went all the way to the bottom of the cup, but then they turned and did a spiral around themselves cutting off any new direction til the growing tip was locked into the center, both spirals were a little smaller than a dime....I'm pretty sure if I hadn't caught it they would've been severely handicapped or even worse.
I wish I had taken a picture, but I didn't, I will try and draw something up real quick, strangest thing I've seen in a while, anyone else ever seen this?
Here's my best illustration, to try and explain it...
