Lessons learned! I will be avoiding light stress like the plague on this next round. I seriously doubt I’ll have any heat problems under LED’s.

I probably shouldn’t even guess but I will anyways. I’m gonna say I’ll be getting 9-10 ounces from the 3 plants. I think had I not had so much lights stress it could have been pushing a pound.

Just to let you know, plan for the best, but set your expectations low, these first few runs are part of the curve. Just saying. Don’t set yourself up to be disappointed. Generally you lose 75% size and water weight.

Yeah the larf does look pretty decent! I’ll be honest, I’m one of those odd ones that prefers small, slightly loose buds, or at least not super dense ones. I have a low tolerance (that could change soon..) so it’s nice to be able to just pop a whole little bud in a bowl. I figure handling buds lowers the potency so when I have big buds on hand, I just end up ripping into them multiple times before I finish them off.

Glad you brought that up. The photos I got that can’t stand light past minimum intensity are banner 2s. Man they can’t stand light whatsoever. Drives me nuts. Never touching sativas again

Yeah the LED’s are a learning curve, not that I had the HPS down! I used a 600 watt eye hortilux. Probably would have been better if I had a cheaper, less efficient bulb. I think if I do HPS again, I will make sure that the plants don’t go over 26” tall so that I can maintain a 32” distance from the canopy if need be.

I think 24” distance would be acceptable in 4x4 but I have a 3x3. The reflective walls probably kick up the par by a good bit. It wasn’t until I think almost the 6th week when I discovered they were getting 1400 par. Worse than that, I bet they were getting over 2,000 par between week 3-5 or something like that.

And one more thing. I know people rock 600 watt HPS bulbs in 3x3 tents. And maybe they have it down somehow. But honestly I just don’t see the point. I think if I had kept it dimmed to 450 watts the whole time I would have had 1,000 par with plenty of distance for spread, and less heat issues. 600 watts higher up to get close to 1,000 par would not boost the canopy spread by enough to justify the excess wattage, in my experience, not in a 3x3 anyways.

I studied up on what people claimed they do with 600 watts in 3x3 tents and I think either A) they were frying their plants like I did or B) lying about the distance they had it hanging for some dumbass reason.

That sucks. Reminds me of a work friend from my first job. We'd get high every day after work and get fast food.

One day we were leaving a sub joint and got pulled over by a cop because his windows were too dark. I was in the passenger seat and had a lit blunt in my hand, holding it down between the seat and the door. Well this was my first grow and I read through plenty of old posts of people who were using 600 watts in 3x3 tents so I figured if they could do it, I could too, at least do it well after my first round.

But yeah, definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone UNLESS they had 32” of clearance. But even then it wouldn’t be worth it. 450 watts is probably perfect for the space. I could have kept it there the whole time but I just didn’t know what was happening.
