i topped my mainline bended it down and it grew like a weed
now these to stems are having side branches
should i pick them off?
And just rely on tops?

I don’t see a picture. But you typically strip the plant naked below the chosen set of nodes and keep the leafs coming off those nodes. Everything else should be removed. Those two nodes will grow out as your two new colas, imagine them as two new trees. Let them grow until they have 2 sets of leafs. Then find your next topping location to make your second cut for 4 tops.

You should not keep side shoots, but do not prune while she is recovering from the top or you will slow her way down. Less leafs, less energy, any stress, stops growth. It is best to let her grow and only keep the growth that is not your chosen tops.

Only keep the growth that is your new tops/nodes when you perform your topping events.

You may leave extra foliage or leafs if you want to accelerate growth. But you do not need to keep anything else but the leafs and nodes that will become your new tops.

100% Thanks alot my light just went out so i wouldent disturb thier night too much but im doing a mainline technique where you keep
An extra node so it leaves you with 4 tops to start off with if it works like it should it would really accelerate veg time
Means i only have to top once to have 8 shoots
And thanks for the advice really appreciate it😄🤟

It is after your final topping that you will want to start becoming creative with your pruning/defoliating. Before and during topping, let it all grow.

Top and strip what you don’t want at the same time and let her go until you top again. If you want a smooth recovery and the end of the road of topping faster. Is no stress recovery.

Someone share this we me on this site during my first mainlining experience. Helped me out a lot!

What I’ve have learned is you can mainline many different ways and have as many trimmed nodes or little as you want. I’ve experimented several different ways and they all worked out just fine!

Everything should be pretty fast recovering considering im growing in deep water culture 😄🤟
