Hey fellow growers👋

I just made a DWC cloner for 100 plants however clones are not rooting as they should.

I also have a DWC cloner bought from a store and the clones in that one has already rooted.

I feel that there is a very minor light leak in the cloner that I made myself.

Do you guys think it can be the reason?

Thank for any input🙏

Copper or brass in your new cloner, what is it made from ?
Pic might help

Its straight from plastic as my other cloners are made of

Here is a pic…

It is identical to my store bought cloner. However I have minor light leak nothing too much.

All my cloners are under same conditions. Store bought already rooted but there are none in my homemade one

The plants do not look like they ran low on water.
I use rooting compound's gels and powders and Canna Aqua Riz tonic.
But that doesn't explain why one is growing and the other isn't
You have room for that many plants ?

They are all submerged and looking healthy but no roots yet…

Yeah I got plenty of room since I dont veg for long, usually 20 days from transplant

Do you think light leak can cause an issue?

That is the only difference I see betwenn my home made and store bought cloner

Light ======== promotes algae and bacteria
Is your reservoir green/black /smells/slimy

Its black…

Smells really clean, both reservoir and the bottoms of the clones are not slimey…

I always check for algae growth anyways and always add h2ho to the reservoir…

Thanks for all information🙏

Ive been having the same problem with an aero cloner lately. Havent done anything different, used to have massive roots in 10 days, now all of a sudden nada..

I also have an aero cloner and never had a problem with it. One thing I realised with aero cloner is that I get better results when i put longer intervals between waterings

You put it on a timer? Ive always just plugged it in and let er rip. Always had huge roots in 10 days. Now, not so much for some reason.

What is the reservoir temp? use Hydro Guard and tap water and PH

Its around 72 to 73F

I know about hydroguard but its not available where I live☹️

I use tap water add diluted h2o2 and PH is always set between 6 and 6.2

With all other cloners I never had a problem but this one just wont root.

I will diminish the light a bit, change the reservoir and wait couple of days more I guess…

Never used Hydrogen peroxide in my reservoirs .. used bleach 1 drop per gallon per day.
Your reservoir temp is a little warm. I like 65 to 68if possible.
As said above you can hang 15w led above the clones. they don't need a bunch of lighting until they root.
There is another product works great and just like hydroguard . I will find out what its called again .

How is the lighting from one cloner to the other ? exactly the same ?
My ph which I keep my PH pen calibration in check I keep my ph at 5.5 to 5.8...........
Clones do not need nutrients before they root,
I use rooting agents gel and powder
I have a large air stone in my cloner .

I made my aero cloner. It works pretty good for first time. I think ph to 5.8 to 6.0, run a timer 1 min on 2 mins off, and try to keep temperature around 68f
Is most important. I had roots starting in 11 days.

this the replacement for Hydro guard can be used in hydroponics
Hope you can get this where your at

Are you aerating the water? I use nothing but straight tap. Never bother to pH but it's about 7.2 from the sink and use nothing else. Roots in 3-10 days.

I clean it out every 2 - 3 weeks with soap and water. The soap seems to promote rooting since they root faster after cleaning with soap. No difference if I just dump and refill.
