Couldn’t be me I have to intervene! Lmao

I have had to remove a small bit of film/tissue holding the tips of the two cotys together that just didnt want to let go before.

But i can only produce a single memory of having to do that. Was a long time ago, and if i was using a dome or misting bottle i would never have had to do that.

I do have a plant right now that came out of its shell with totally fused cotyledons though. I had to use a scalpel and cut the cotyledons open to let the seedling out.

Also only a single memory of that happening though too lmao.


If you actually plant your seeds deep enough, be patient, and use a dome or misting bottle, you dont ever have to risk damaging a very fragile seedling. They also wont be strangely elongated 24 hours after showing themselves either, and will also hit the same node counts in the same amount of time it would have otherwise. That 1/8th inch deep stuff isn't the brightest idea lol.

So if a plant herms based on genetics the seed you get from the herm could be either male or female. But if it herms from stress wouldn’t those seeds be female? Am I making sense ?

there are two kinds of hermaphrodite plants.

A genetic hermie that does it regardless, produces fully formed male flowers. Stamen, anthers, petals and all, down low on the plant. in the larf zone. This pollen will usually produce more plants that do the same. Pretty much always. Sometimes you'll get lucky but i wouldnt chance it.


And a stress induced hermie. They produce single bare male stamen with no petals near the main top colas of a plant. This pollen will only produce female XX chromosome seeds. Sometimes with a higher chance of easier stress hermies in late flower on the offpring, which isn't that a big deal.

I actually grew out a male plant once that hermied female. It grew a single small female branch down low with a couple little female bud sites. rest of the plant was male.

But like… I know the regular seeds are 50/50 chance of being either. But what if you get a viable seed from good bud. Like what if the plant just had a few seeds here and there in a few buds. How likely is it I would get a female from this seed?
