Hello guys, noobie grower here on my first grow. I just recently spotted a brown spot on one of the lower leaves on one of my plants. Don't really know what it could be so i'm hoping someone on here might know.

Recently i just transplanted it because it is the largest fastest growing plant that i have and the solo cups i germinated them in had too little medium (homemade worm castings). They were all doing well in the worm castings but the medium i transplanted the plant to was infested with gnats. I was able to kill most with diatomaceous earth but some did survive and i spotted one and a larva (larva was killed) after transplant.

New medium is a mixup of roughly 1/3 coco fiber, 1/3 pumice rock, 1/3 compost, and amended with 4 cups of dry nutrients. 2 cups of 4--4-4, 1/2 cup bat guano, 1/2 cup gypsum, 1/2 cup dolomite lime.

Have not kept track of how much i've been watering but i watered pretty much everytime the top of the soil was dry.. More or less. Used tap water that was left sitting in open container. Wasn't ph'ed or amended in any way.

I have mainly kept them in the sunlight that comes through the windows of my home. I have a grow light and tent but they're too inefficient for only six surviving seedlings to use (electricity is expensive where i live) so only on cloudy days do i use them. They get roughly 12-14 hours of light each day, with maybe 6-8 hours of direct sunlight everyday.

Sorry for the long post guys but i'm just trying to explain all that i've done.

These are photos i took of the brown spot, the biggest one is the only one affected.

Possibly overwatering or nutrient deficiency. You are watering too much and make sure you are ph’ing every watering. I use a scale and weigh them at dry weight and then water and then when they weigh the same as the dry weight I water again. If no scale feel what a dry container feels like and the n water when it feels the same.

I don't really have the money to spend on a ph meter or ph up and down chemicals to be doing all of that right now though. :\
I do think i may have overwatered it because i watered it to slight run off and the soil has stayed wet for like 4days now. I measured 300ml and gave it to the plant but i felt even then that i had overdone it.

I'll have to try and record the weights from now on because i'm really bad at remembering what things feel like after a while lul.

Do you know of any nutrient deficiencies, diseases, or pest damage that would leave light brown spot on the lower set of leaves though?

One brown spot on one leaf?

Relax, carry on. Most likely it's from water on the leaf and the light burned it a bit. No big deal unless you start to see it elsewhere.
Lul, sorry if looks like i'm being too dramatic. I already killed like 7 seeds/seedlings so i'm just worried about losing another plant. :( Don't really know what i'm doing still.

It's all good. Everybody started somewhere once upon a time My advice is to relax, and don't make problems where there may no be any. Not every brown spot on a leaf is a problem, not every leaf with purple stripes on the stem is a problem, and always keep in mind that less is usually more. It's a weed. It does pretty well in nature all by itself, if you give it just a little help, it can do great things.

Above all else, remember K.I.S.S.:

It

Simple

This early in the stage doubt it’d be deficiency but I don’t see a disease only reason why I mentioned that. But likely overwatering.

Appreciate it brotha man. I will be keeping a close eye on it but i will try to relax as well. There's a saying in spanish that says "the devil loves his son, until he gouges his eyes out", so i hope i will not em up killing them by doing unnecessary things. They seem to be healthy for the most part so i do think that keeping it simple will be the best thing to do for now.

Gotcha, do you think it might also be some type of light burn like stanknkatz mentioned?

I would think light burn would be higher up not on the lower leaves. If a chemical/oil got sprayed on it then light could burn it but water droplets wouldn’t do that. Let the pots dry back until they feel almost like styrofoam but don’t let em wilt. I agree it’s only 1 spot and not to be too worried but catching it early makes it easier to fix and prevents further issues.

Yeah no chemicals or oil spilled and i hadn't watered it in days but i did think maybe i could have spilled a bit of water on it or something while passing by. I'll try drying it out and continue to monitor it and i'll post some updates these coming days. Appreciate the advice.

pH aquarium drops are under 10 bucks so is a PPM meter and you can use lemon juice and baking soda to adjust your pH so there really is no excuses for not using proper growing techniques.

bro destroy it now, it’s in “shed”
Soon it will be a full blown lizard hell bent on ripping your face off. Or? Relax and stop watering it so much?

I can assure you that a drop of water landed on that leaf and stayed there. Its a water droplet. Don't water again until you do a knuckle test. put your finger tip into the soil down to the first knuckle and pull it out. If your finger is dry down to the first knuckle you can water again. but not before...good luck and don't splash any more leaves while watering or you will see more brown spots...

I forgot to mention that exposing your plant to artificial light and then natural light can be ok if you make sure to keep the veg stage consistently in strong light for at least 18/6 (18 hours on/6 hours off) or 24 hours continuous in order to separate veg stage from the flowering stage of 12/12 (12 hours on 12 hours off.) You don't want to throw your plant in and out of veg and once you make the switch to flower you need to keep it consistent at 12/12 pretty much until the last few days of harvest. If the light timing is not consistent and goes back and forth from veg to flower, not only will it extend the time it will take to revert back to veg but can stress the plant and in some cases cause it to herm and produce male parts that will make a female plant produce seeds. Best to keep the lights up during the veg stage, first 3 months and then swap to flower stage 12/12. The 12 to 14 hours a day of light you mentioned should be very concerning... Good luck with your grow!

Yeah I’m not so sure about that homie. That whole dry to the knuckle thing is not good info either.

Agree, that's not from a drop of water & that's not the best way to judge when to water either, still too wet. Judge by weight.
