Pro tip for those of you struggling with outdoor pests destroying your plants this year - I bought mesh netting bag plant covers off Amazon for my few outdoor plants this year. I'm not hating it, that's for sure. We have giant grasshoppers that eat stalks in half in 5 minutes, aphids, spider mites, rodents of all sorts. Nothing has touched my plants, yet. A pre treatment of Neem before sticking outside keeps the mites and aphids at bay.
i've seen info on neem and it seems one of the few things that is mentioned for pests. i didn't have to use anything for pest treatment other than some cinnamon powder, garlic powder and maybe a few other things similar. luckily i didn't have many pests to deal with as my plants were only outside for a month. i tried to stay away from anything that had to be applied to the plant itself. when i would bring them inside i would inspect them for pests. i had what best to my understanding was a few scales. i applied rubbing alchohol to the scale and wiped them off. it did tend to harm the leaves to varying degrees but it worked. a few fungus gnats were seen but there was never many. i have seen info saying to use milk for some pests.

Well I bought the 22 pound bags of Gaia or something like that. No cans..

Tell me about the holes in the pots though. You do that even for your gallon pots? What for exactly?
Yep I do it to all pots (not seedling pots but once they move past that they go into pots with holes top to bottom, Keeps nice air to the roots top to bottom in the pot, plus if you use a 5/8 or bigger but you can stick your finger into the holes at each level to feel for moisture, when I stick my finger in and it’s no longer cool to the touch, it’s watering day, works the same for a 1 gallon pot, up to my 5 gallon buckets

The lower pics are the 3 gallon buckets the frostettes were in, and the root ball at up pot to the 12’s, the roots have seemed a brighter white at up pot since I started doing this about a year and a half ago, these were in these 3’s about a month longer than I wanted them to be but I was still finishing up in the flower tent then drying before I could move them in

Those look pretty good! I bought my micro trays from bootstrap for about 4 per tray I think. They’re like 8 a piece but I was buying by the 30 pack I believe. I harvest 12 micro greens trays every week so I have like 60 of each, that way I can get away with way fewer sanitizing sessions.
Oof tell me about it 🤣 great treys but PITA to wash them I fill the tub with soapy water, scrub them all then refill with clean water hit them with 2 caps full of beach and let sit for an hour then rinse again

Yeah check out johnnys tons of other good gear too, I just got the 2” soil blocker ( I got the knockoff but it works great!) and their veggie seeds (and their micro seeds are top tier and a HUGE selection)

Yeah I think I have about 30 slotted and 30 soild treys plus about 30 of the flimsy slotted treys too (bought the wrong ones on a new order lol) those just sit in the box lol

Awesome, I think I’ll give it a shot!

Fuck that shit!

Johnnys seeds.com

They have the heavy duty solid and slotted treys for micros! Even if you just use them to set seedling pots on for drainage nothing beats them, $5 each but they don’t flex and don’t break

Couple pics so you can see them

Been using these for over a year and haven’t broke one yet, they sell the cheap ones too, complete junk can barely hold them flat with 2 hands under them
Pro tip number 2 for the day, every Spring just as our local Walmarts are filling their garden centers, go around back. They literally throw away thousands of trays and pots of all sizes and shapes. You can ask, they will let you take as many as you want. I got 1200 clone worthy trays last year alone.

Fuck all that, unless that’s what works best for you of course.

I use zerotol 2.0 which is basically hardcore concentrated hydrogen peroxide I believe. Either way it’s organic. I just spray the trays down with a wand pump sprayer. Works like a charm and the best thing about it is that you don’t have to remove any dirt or anything at all. Like no cleaning. Kills all pathogens without having to “wash” them or scrub them or anything.

I'm a huge fan of Neem but it must be used properly. Only apply just before dark or lights out, and only use it during veg. Works great for prevention, and mitigation. I like this other stuff I found called AgroMagen Grow Safe Biopesticide it's the best, organic, all stage of growth insecticide I have ever used in 20+ years of growing cannabis. Can find it on Amazon. It's worth every penny.

I’ll check that out!

I can’t stand flimsy pots. I’ve sunk a stupid amount of money into Bootstrap Farmer’s trays and starter pots. Gonna last pretty close to a lifetime though.
I usually hit Craig’s list to find the nursery pots, most garden centers do it .25 for half G’s up to 1.00 for 5gs. And list them there. Check that out if you haven’t.

Which gallon pots? I just bought a ten pack of some that anre overpriced but I know they’re durable. I’ll need more soon though..
Oh bro, this was 5 or so years ago.
I know that they came From Asia.
Look for Asian listings on Amazon, like 20 pages In you should start seeing suppliers from over there

That’s a nice root ball.

I’d do weird stuff to it.

Never leave nice root balls around a clown.

It gets “boisterous”

Ordering pots is hit and miss too, sometimes the plastic smells sooo bad and quality is always wacky.

Gro pro pots hold up for a good amount of time.
I have def gotten a box of stinky pots before.
Hahahaaha. Damn. like they got pressed by giant asscheeks

just ordered my friend. Def gonna give that a shot for sure.

Yea, dont use neem anywhere near cannabis flowers, and it can burn plants bad if sun is on the oil too long. Especially cacti and succulents. Its not the same burn droplets cause by lensing light either, its an angrierburn lol. Just catching wiffs of the stuff gives me heebie jeebies though xD. I only use it if i absolutely have to for no other reason then that alone. Its great stuff used correctly.

lol i got all my current pots from a nursery dumptser. I got some half dead english ivy plants that are doing fantastic now too lmao.

thats genius. I used those air pruning pots for a while and they were wonderful. Just really expensive for injection molded plastic.

If i order pots i just order cheap fabric ebay pots lol. If i use plastic pots, i scoop em from a nursery dumpster usually.

Cool read, this crap has been around for a loooong time in cannabis. 👊🏻🤡

100%, haven't grown it personally yet but my homie has had her in the garden and she was great. Thick dense nugs, very minimal foliage to trim, potent as hell.
Everything kinda seems candy and generic nowadays. this was old school smoke meets new age genetics
My kinda thing. To the letter.
I appreciate you getting back with me homie!
Don’t be bashful and come rabble rouse whenever you would like! 👊🏻🤡
