Funnily enough this was the other plant I have that I’ve partially harvested, she had a worse case of the gnats and it does look like bits of that photoView attachment 2205604

insect stress,. gnats are easy to control but keep around for that extra bit of “good” stress

i only saw the first movie. been a while. i think that one has him chasing a chicken. now that i watched this trailer i'm gonna have to watch it again.

i had a hydroponic rockwool setup at the time. was about 6 feet in length. used a motion track that would move the light across the top of them from my recollection.

i came real close to setting one of these up a couple times, but just ended up adding an additional light and ventilation both times. I was paranoid about system failure and fire hazards, because ya know.... 1kw hps and all that lmao. I didnt want a motor grinding on something jamming in the rail, while i wasnt home with a 1kw lamp 12" above flowers lmao. Good ole paranoia.

everything worked well. unfortunately at that time i never finished the grow so i never saw how well everything held up long term.

unlike my present grow the halide and hps (i had one of each) i kept the well above the plants.

That was my fear, it working well, and me continuing to use the thing until it inevitably didnt. Fans are more then enough moving parts to have to rely on for a grow imho.

well, with the track i imagine the worst case would have been it would have just been render stationary. the thing with those 1000 watt bulbs was they had to be far enough away from the plants or they woulda smoked the plants before i would have.

i imagine the rails probably are worm gears with a friction plate or some kinda slip differential thing to keep jams from burning the motor.


But there were definitely guys on the forums using real long rails so they could light ridiculous sized grow rooms with single 1k lights and still pull good yields for the space. They just dropped the 1kw to about 12" off the tops because it never stayed in one place very long, you could get away with it. That was the attractive part for me about it. Lighting an entire damn basement with a single 1kw bulb lmao.

there was one perpetual basement grow with 2 lights on RIU back in the day, pulling yield from something like a 12x30 basement. Those are estimated numbers, i just remember how impressive the pics were from memory lmao. Big long room, two 1kw lamps on rails like a foot off the canopy. SoG clones.

I dont grow to sell anymore though, so really its lost most of its attractiveness, its just moving parts to break in my mind now.
