15 out of the 18 are up. Some look better than others. Hate when their lil seed hats get stuck. I don't try to remove them anymore. Regardless of what I'm growing, when I assist, I usually hurt the lil one. Survival of the fittest, I reckon.

Also, I looked up cal mag. There are a few different brands and they have different % of nutrients. I checked here first, but I don't see any info on which is the best or which should be avoided. If someone could let me know which is best or any that are a definite no, I'd appreciate it. I'd like to order it today. Thank you.

At what point should I be concerned about having a male around? Do I have awhile to go? I don't want to be a bugaboo or worrying for no reason.
I'm in northern Virginia a few hundred miles south of you. My photo period fems outside start showing pistils in late July and really get going mid-August. Male parts might appear a little earlier so I'd be out there with an inquisitive nature mid-July looking for rowdy fellas to accost and wrap in garbage bag sized condoms, if I weren't sure of their pronouns beforehand. So I'm thinking you want to be sure who's who my August 1st, and everything should be apparent by then.

Thank you for the information.

I have an uncle that has a farm outside of Suffolk. Was just there last fall. Beautiful state. Beautiful drive too.

I will need to look more into what to do if I do suspect a male. Other than separating, I really don't know what to do. Wouldn't they get really hot wrapped up or do you mean if they are being culled?

Again, thank you for the heads up on a timeline. Gives me a time frame. How old are your plants when they go out? I was fairly late starting these. They sprouted on 5/1. They are 2 months now.

Sorry, my bad. There is an assumption that the male plants will need to be disposed of, which is what I was referring to. Cutting them down and stuffing them into plastic garbage bags so no pollen leaks out. Pollen, if available nearby would fertilize the female flowers and end the possibility of producing sinsemilla. My first grow I sowed 4 bag seeds. 8-1/2 weeks later I found out that 3 of them were male and so I destroyed those 3 and harvested seedless flowers from the one female plant. It was pretty good smoke but I was hoping for more when I started. You get what you get when you plant unknowns. That's why feminized seeds are so popular. Male plants have no THC and are fairly useless unless you want to pollinate females.
Again, thank you for the heads up on a timeline. Gives me a time frame. How old are your plants when they go out? I was fairly late starting these. They sprouted on 5/1. They are 2 months now.
I started mine, seeds in the ground 5-5. They should be ready for harvest say late September to mid-October depending on how they do and the weather. It doesn't matter too much when you start them outside. I mean if you start them earlier there is the potential for them to grow bigger of course, but the timing of the shorting day will dictate when they flower and mature. On August 1st the daylight in our latitude will reduce below 14 hours which will signal photo period cannabis plants to get busy and start to produce flowers and the best harvest time will depend on the strain and the conditions.

Lmao. Sorry to take the advice so literally. 😂 Was wondering how tf I was wrapping up plants in plastic and keeping them alive in the heat and humidity.

Thank you. That was very informative. Much appreciated.

Batch #2 update:
14 out of 18 are standing at attention. 1 looks unsure it wants to live. 1 died. The 2 X pots (seed was cracked but no tail) still haven't popped through the surface. CalMag and fabric bags have been ordered. Guess I need to change my name. 🙃

Just pulled another black walnut sapling out of one of my beds. That makes my total 31 this year. Squirrels really are dumb. Instead of throwing it out, I potted it up. I will sacrifice one of my seedlings for a science project that will give anyone searching for the information I was previously a definite answer on whether marijuana is juglone tolerant or not. I want the seedling to be somewhat established first though.

I am not sure if I want to plant my seedling in the same pot to simulate an environment of them growing in the ground together or watering it with juglone water (put this seedling in some rain water). If anyone has any opinions on how or what I should do, please let me know.

This will be a separate post in the grow diaries.

Thanks.

Auto that was brought to me. Everything is unknown including strain. Because of the nute burn, I hadn't fed her. I feed her today. I don't know if she should just go in the trash or not. Just trying to help a sister out if i can. No viable leaves to clone (each attempt failed). Will be adding fish emulsion and FF Big bloom at half strength. Not sure I trust the Tiger Blood. All plants have only received rain water. One barrel is empty now. I'm hopeful we get rain soon. This water is trash.

Not so sure that nute burn, the leaf ends are curving upwards. Have you had any heat spikes?

A few weeks back before I got it. It is starting to warm back up now. Put her black pot inside a light gray one. Also, covered her soil top with straw I use in my garden. She's in direct sun, should I move her?

Thanks for helping. If it wasn't burned, she hasn't been fertilized while flowering since I got her. ☹️ Clearly I'm clueless about this plant species. Learning curve is insane and can be costly. Hahaha

Wind is making them strong. Everyone got calmag yesterday for the first time. They look much happier. Possible insect or wind damage on a leaf. 10 gallon fabric bags have been rinsed. We will be transplanting the 3 bigger ones tomorrow. I'm not potting up the runt, but I will keep until able to sex.

Each plant was also sprayed with BT and neem also. I've seen and killed a few Japanese beetles and leaf footed beetles here already. Always have leaf hoppers. (Pots, base they are on, and top of soil spray too). Killed a few small grasshoppers too.

15 out of the 18 seedlings are still alive. A few seem to be reaching more than others. Topped with perlite yesterday.

7 days old today

Moonshine helps me garden.

Forgot to mention, seedlings have been in full sun for the 7 full days. I put them under an LED shop light (Braun 5500) when the sun sets. I use this light for my garden veggies. Hopeful it is okay for these guys. They get 18 hours of light.

Man down. I thought I killed this seedling a few days ago. Qhwn putting it under the light, I snapped the stem. When I checked in the am, it was standing up. It stormed where I am and the seedlings were exposed to the elements.

I will leave it alone, but I'd say the stem has been compromised, even if it stands again. May use this one for the juglone experiment, if it survives, but struggles with a weak stem.

Prop that little one up and in a few weeks you'll never know it happened😉

I'm hopeful to get them in their permanent homes tomorrow. Depends on how long company is here. The weather will be favorable the next couple days for uppotting.

I think A and C are girlie girls. B is a boy. However, I don't know shit about f...

Your pictures may need some magnification to really see. The calyx and the pollen sac are very similar, so until the pistils appear you need to be right up on them to see anything meaningful. You can look on all the nodes but look at the top one first. All the nodes will have stipules and growth tips so you need to focus your picture on that tiny little nub between them. This illustration shows the magnification that you want.

This plant is feminized so no surprise here but the photos show a calyx before and after a pistil grows. I got these pics with my iphone using a macro lens from Alloclip. Check Amazon for different manufacturers for your phone. Steep discounts for lens for older model phones.

Thank you very much.

The jewelry loupe that I keep seeing referenced would work or do I need something else?

I have a macro clip, but when I used it someone said they weren't clear enough. I had an iPhone and now have a Samsung. Maybe it isn't compatible with this phone's camera. I'll do research.

Thanks again.

I've used the app Magnifier Plus. It's an app so if it doesn't work for you you can just delete it. Check the free apps before spending any $😉
