Tennessee pays for infrastructure and schools with the lottery and a hemp farm bill tax. Our grid is legit as fuck tbh. Longest I had power out in spring was about 5 hours. And that was one helluva crazy hail/wind storm. Even up here in the mountain sticks it's pretty solid, and the roads are even better. Def don't envy Texas's grid. Honestly the roads up here in the mountains are the best roads I've ever been on anywhere. Kinda blew me away.

Electrician and I have been buds for years, I was having an issue with squirrel bbq them selves, everyone killed power to my house. Well, I asked him one day if I could have am few of the top caps for transformers.
Kinda neat.. he yeah sure man go ahead.
Surely enough, the parts were 30 years old, they had been acid dipped and resurfaced.
It made me angry as fuck.

They failed Mom and I too, 2 years ago. Ian was supposed to hit Tampa, but it came up through the middle of the state instead and hit Lakeland. We flew in the end of September (she's a snow bird) and were there 2 days before the hurricane hit. Power was out for 24hrs. and it took me 2 days to pick up all the branches.
Nothing like what your up against but the predictors were wrong, again.

Since I’ve been dealing with this shit for 25 years now, this whiff, was 100% unprecedented. I can’t remember a more monumental fuck up having to deal with storms than this. And Ike in 08, had yachts on the interstate and power was on faster. Harvey, it will be longer than that fucking beast by this evening. And Houston was under water.
Something ain’t right. But it’s all gravy. This too shall motherfucking pass.

The incompetence across the board is widespread, they probably have a bunch of dumb dicks and not the bad asses that we used to have fixing poles. That's what I get from the guys retiring at least. Hopefully we get competent people back.
I really hope your area gets serviced first bro fuck the weather men and fuck hurricanes.

And bro no worries, this isn’t how I Normally do this shit, it’s just when you get told by everyone in Texas that the storm is making landfall 400 miles to the south, that’s plenty far enough to where all we would feel here is a few rain bands. That is no sweat. But since it made landfall 35miles away.
Yeah we got caught slipping. All of Houston too. No one thought or even staged any emergency response the day prior to landfall. Which is normally what happens. So I have gas, for now.

Sounds crazy but in my pepper pots I used half composted… compost, still woody, big chunks, I use it in my outdoor pots in pace of perlite. The rest of my 5 gallon pepper pots I used a mix of top soil, peat and store bought compost. The ones I use my compost in, they drain excellent, dry back in 24hours to 36 hours and since it’s still breaking down it’s constantly feeding, next year I’ll take all the soil from these bags, and reuse it all freshly amended, next year I’ll add about 80lbs of peat and probably a full 25 lb bag of perlite plus new amendments, im looking at a 50 pack of 10 gallon bags on Amazon for $70 fuckin amazing price, thinking of doing 50-70 5 gallon pots in a seperate garden next year with peppers and other veggies

Did 15 5 gallon pots this year to test it out and they are doing as good if not better than the same plants from the same seeds in the ground

I started doing raised beds hugelkultur style with half composted wood at the bottoms several years ago. Never went back lol.

Can dev see a somewhat similarly arranged pepper planter giving me the same reaction

I’m in NH and I literally noticed a lack of line clearing in spring, summer, and fall over the past three years as electricity prices continue to rise. Now a direct result we lose power in the winter months for days on end anytime we get wet snow. Two years in a row I was without power for over three days at a time. And my stupid ass still hasn’t bought a generator .
