Hi people!

I'm preparing a soil mix for my next grow. I'm doing a mix of store bought potting soil (soil, peat and perlite) and compost. I screened my mix to take out the wood pieces in it, and will sterilize the whole thing. Last grow I had problems in my soil with acidity and I think it was because of all the wood chips in the soil.

I was wondering, will screening out wood from the soil help it not being so acidic. I don't want to buy a premade mix because they're expensive as hell and want to learn how to mix some myself, I think alot of people do so and have good results.

I'm scared of using dolomite limestone as I've seen people get lockout from too much calcium, maybe I'll use it as top dressing IF I get low pH.

Also, I will be using GH Flora Series Micro and Bloom throughout my grow so I am not trying to mix organic living soil.

Thanks for the help!

To make good soil is expensive. My last batch was close to 50 bucks per cuft. By the time you buy peat pumice compost basalt bio char gypsum lime kelp meal crustaceans meal mustards seed meal and bunch of other stuff. It really adds up. If you are using flora series I would just run sunshine mix 4.

I use foxfarm ocean, and frog 40 % each. 10 % miracle gro just for shits and giggles. And, I only use spring water period. 0 problems with anything.
