Finding outdoor hearty plants is a wise idea. Its true that some strains are more resilient to things like mold and PM. Some strains even exist better in more humid conditions. Maintaining optimum health is also very important. The stronger plant health the better able plants are at defending against mold. I believe in full or mostly organic growing. And always, always using some type of silicate supplement. It helps plants form a barrier between them and powdery mildew and other nasty pathogens.

I have had powdery mildew effect a handful of crops in years past but not since I began adding silicate six or seven outdoor grows ago. I introduce it at the first transplant and continue using it right up to harvest. Silicate supplements will always remain one of the main staples on my nutrient list.

What silica supplement do you use? I have been using TPS Silica Gold but it's been raining so much I feel like I need to let the ground dry out a little bit so I hold off on more liquid. Which isn't ideal but there's always trade offs.

Does your area not have much broken down silica to the soil? i assumed that was just a great lakes region thing, Had my cousins try running without silica because of that up there a couple season ago, and they still havent gone back because they noticed absolutely no difference at all. But theyre also right by lake Huron in Saginaw. Theres particulate silica in that soil for long enough along side the soil microfauna, theres copious amounts of plant usable silica there. 3 seasons on, still no issues with weaking stems or trichome coverage. Theyve zapped the natural nitrogen in their patch, but the silica is still good to go lmao. Theres more plant usable silica in that soil then just about anywhere in the country outside mountain gulley's and flood planes (where i am lmao).

im direct in ground in a clay rich Flood loam based mountain soil so im actually not bothering at all with silica, and so much shale around im not bothering supplementing calcium either. Just a bit of epsom salt every few waterings. they are getting plenty, of everything, more then enough really. They just survived a couple hour wind storm yesterday with 65mph gusts doubled over to the ground, and today looks like nothing at all hapened. Didnt lose a single branch. If theres lots of shale around, you can easily get by on less calcium and potassium in the feeds too without any detriment at all. You just have other issues that come along with too much clay/shale lol, One being shale seems like it likes to perch, and hold onto potassium and calcium, and that can cause rapid upswings in soil alkalinity all of a sudden after rains events.

Your telling me....a 1 man show too, no help all solo start to finish......I really should stick to smaller girls!!!
Yes and someday you will when you get " friends " who say they will help you for some free weed then don't show up and your left with these huge plants. That's what happened to me several years back, they came during Christmas to a party we had asking for some. Zero for you i told them, had to do 6 8ft and they'd been topped by myself over a 2wk period. I quit with the monsters was not much fun at all.

same here all alone but I always wanted a monster plant glad I didn’t a bunch

Ive had help before they did show up and received a yearly supply, just don't do that anymore nobody's wants to or just in tune with my schedule, and some may cringe but I waste/lose 20 to 40 pounds a year just because I can't get to it all after harvest, I can get them.all.down just can't get time to complete the process so I let it rot, those I now are always welcome to it and I'm notorious for delving out poundage for 150 smackaroos or trades, and mostly for free

That's gonna be me if all mine finish. Way too many trees. We're allowed 12 and I kept 'extras' 'just in case'. LOL

I'm starting to feel a bit like this. I'm gonna need some taller posts myself. And probably 4 more and a taller net too. And a studier ladder to boot.

Top of the closest post is right at 6ft off the ground. Plants over 8 foot as of today. Half Columbian landrace heavily sativa dom. Prob got a good long ways to go yet too. Prob a first frost cut. Idek though, I've cut finished plants this size and pulled past 2lbs. Looks like it'll be an easy trim, just a lot of it. 1/14 plants 😐
