I've been on here long enough to realize, that some cultivators prefer making there own soil mediums. I've also watched them, have to add this and that, to combat problems. I prefer foxfarm 40 % - 40 % ocean, and frog, and 10 % miracle gro, and im a done deal. I never have to adjust anything, and I produce very healthy plants. So, I'm not knocking you guys that make your own soil. I just want to know why you put yourselves through all of that mixing.

I started with roots organic, played around and added stuff so that I could recycle my soil by just reamending it. Has helped with expenses tremendously

So, it's cheaper to make your own !?

My latest mix in 50% HP Pro mix, 25% Wiggle Worm castings (get the ones with worm cocoons for added worms!), and 25% vermiculite.

I also add crab meal, kelp meal, and neemseed meal at 1/4 cup each per gallon of soil and Azomite and gypsum at 1 cup per gallon of soil.

I don't need to add anything else to grow and flower, however I do add 1/4 cup of seabird guano per gallon of soil 2 weeks before flipping to flower. I find this helps with bud set and root stretch.

Other than this is just water the whole time.

I mix because i measure the amounts i put in, what i put in, how well its mixed, and how long its cooked.

I start completely fresh every gro. So. I make sure I'm not goiving new plants old depleted

I have a question for all of you mixers ! I said I use foxfarm 40 - 40 - 10 % throughout my whole gro.
And, lotus nutrients every week. I'm in my 2nd week of flower. What would you guys think I could add, to what I already have, to my soil medium during flower.
If anything, because she looks very healthy.

Because I only have to do it one time. Then I run the same soil over and over. I amend twice per grow. Other than that I only give them water

Pretty much my reasoning. Tougher upfront, but like fine wine gets better over time. But this is going recycled organic living soil vs bottle feeding. No wrong or right way, just YOUR way!😉 It is an investment upfront of learning and cost of formulating your own mix (but that is also the fun!)

I buy my soil as well and use new every time. I use Fox Farm as well but I mix 2 parts Ocean Forest to 1 part Happy Frog and then add 10%-15% perlite.
I also use fresh every time, I get Ocean Forest and Happy Frog for $20 for the big bag and buy 4 get 1 free so $80 in soil filling 3 gallon pots lasts me quite a few grows so cost is not much.

yep always start fresh,.. hlvd can live for 6 months+ in dead roots easily infecting the next grow,..
Say you know my soil mixture. I'm after one week of flower. Things are looking good, but what would you add, if anything to my foxfarm soil, and lotus nutes ?!

I do 40 % ocean, 40 % frog, and 10 % miracle gro. Don't, ask me where I got that idea ! Lol. And, I use lotus nutes every week.

How do you like the lotus nutes? I've seen them but couldn't find anyone here with first hand experience.

Lotus sells a product called Boost that you can add during flower.
Like most Bloom Boosters with high P&K, it should add size and density to your buds as well as oil production for taste and potency.
