So, I'm seeing first signs today she's gearing up to flower.

I can't let her get taller then 12 ft.

Would you cut the main tips now so she has time to divert some resources around? Or would you wait until she hit 12 foot and cut some early harvest colas for concentrates and risk stressing out the plant?

I'm at a rock and a hard place with that call. First time growing this pheno so I'm pretty clueless how flowering is gonna go. I've had sativa's that stretch to flower and then fill in. I've had sativa's that just kinda creep taller the entire time they flower. And I've had both from this F1 lmao. This one's already bigger then the largest plant I've ever harvested outdoors though. And that plant pulled almost 2 1/2 pounds dry. If I had to early harvest some colas, not that big a deal I don't think. I'll still have more of her buds then anything else.
Bend that baby downward to.achieve the height you need , just be cautious as you bend, those buds will just keep on coming no matter how you manipulate her

Can you bend her somehow?

Can you bend her somehow?
She grows so fast she keeps a super hollow stem. Which is actually stronger then a non hollow stem 2x as thick. But also likes to kink and crease when you bend her too much. It would be kinda sketchy, but i might try on one and see how it goes.

I also topped her early several times in failed attempts to keep her shorter. Seems like all it did was make her wider, shes still nearly 2x as tall as the next closest plant. If i pull on those branches that attach down low too much, and leave her, she's liable to stalk split if we get a storm and shes bent open

Im not even sure how this happened, she took 65mph gusts no prob lmao. (I did this somehow without noticing while putting up the nets)

^Why sad?

This is a great problem to have imho, id rather have a plant too big then too small, at least while im still capable of handling it, it's pretty cool lol 😁 She's half un-tampered columbian land race. No tinkering with the pollen donor, just as it was in columbia, and as it sprouted. And im gonna have a lot of her too. All smiles for me either way.
Because I disagree with you on early harvesting! Early harvested, undeveloped, bud invariably winds up as crap! Not even worth fucking with! I don’t care how many pounds it adds up to! Good luck, man!

You could top her but I always feel.that takes energy away from the plant and has to play catch up to where it was , but she is a sativa and has a longer flowering stage anyways so maybe she will just bounce back quickly and continue on without hiccups
I always lose a branch or.tops when trellising, I'm just that good I guess, lol

I may actually wait for premature buds i can blast, and just remove the top colas. Not like there wont be a couple pounds of nicely developed buds under it. I just dont want to encourage any panic bananas and that brings my thoughts back to shortening her now. She's so damn big, i dont think itll bug her much as it would into flower.

I could also just let her get real big, in assumption that the local UPS driver either doesnt pay much attention, or is cool as fuck. Whether he sees them or not this fall, he will definitely smell them. But then if the power company comes through, or whatever, itll be a risk too.

I genuinely had no idea a plant thats been topped several times could still get this big in just 3 months. That's insane. In kc i only ever got to see plants this big that were started in supplemental-lit hoop houses in like Febuary/March

You misunderstand lol

I'm just talking about the tallest branches that reach over 12ft. Not the rest.

And yea yield sucks but I quite like the bho results of early flowers even if the yield of it is disappointing.

But we're talking like 2 colas here early, and nothing else from the bulk of the plant til it's done. That would be a total waste of time to pull the whole plant early, yes 🤣

The only thing I'd ever pull early off a plant like this is what I have no choice but to pull. And I wouldn't consider it a loss as big as she is so long as I could finish the rest.

Although she's prob a November girl. And first frost can be anywhere from halfway thru October to halfway through November here. In some ways, my hands may end up tied with her in the end. All depends on mother nature most likely.

Been growing strong. Started to push pistils in the last week or so. Though I am worried that they look a little hungry.
Keep growing ya’ll

Taken from Wiki about the Experimental Farm ;-)

"The CEF was the site of a large scale cannabis grow operation in the 1970s, producing tonnes of crop from plants standing 20 feet tall.[12] It was intended to provide Canadian scientists with reliable samples for research in response to an interim report of the Le Dain Commission.[13] The plants were near Ash Lane, earning it the nickname "Hash Lane"; combined with the secrecy around the project, it became a local legend among area youth.[12]"

This excerpt is from Wikipedia. The story I read included that the main guy growing the pot never used pot, he was just into agriculture. Some of the weed plants actually made it to 30 ft. The security for the experiment was to plant corn around the plants which didn't work very well. Thieves cut some of the weed down one night and ran away with it. 😱

I betcha if I bottle fed an un-topped s1 of hers, it could hit 25-30ft by cut. 🤔

That would be straight rediculous. I wish I had a place to let a plant get that big lmao.

These are my autoflowers. They are growing so well in the garden but I have 81% humidity. Once the flowers start getting denser I worry about mold and bud rot. I guess we will see I think y still have a month to go. Ahhh!!

look into citric acid solutions.

The facility i used to work at in KC kept giant rain storage sized containers of this stuff around for the greenhouses. They'd even let us take bottles of it home to our own grows. Its wonderful outdoors and in greenhouses. Works as well as micronized sulfur ime, but doesn't damage burn or extract quality at all done right.

It totally prevents PM all together, and it wont 100% prevent Bud rot, especially on super dense indica flowers, but it will *hugely* reduce it for you.

So long as the soil isnt parched, you can spry it on flowers after a rain without worry. You can even make your own very cheaply with distilled water, purified citric acid and a little bit of plant safe surfactant to spread it evenly.

When you harvest, swoosh the branches real good in some plain distilled water PH'd to 8, then shake off and hang to dry. Itll zap all of the citric acid into the water in a few swooshes just as well as salt drawing water in. Smell, taste, flavor, and concentrates were never adversely affected ime. Just keep an eye on the wash water PH, gets too close to neutral it wont zap the citric acid as well. (its basically a very simple and benign base/acid wash chemically, itll only take a branch or two to neutralize the PH of the wash water)

The biggest risk with citric acid solutions is phytotoxicity in times of drought and parched soil. But in that context, why are you even worried about bud rot ya know?

yes mine are also it's the way they go in the containers. I go back an forth using fish & guano teas and top dressing with worm castings. I sprinkle 1 cup per 15gal container and just water as usually. I'm not worried this is how my grows do every year and turn out just fine.

Bigger and bushier every day!

Unlike most, you have the nerve to handle it! I’ve seen it! Tear it up!
