And while eucalyptus is a decent wood to burn, it's oily as anything and will crap up your flu with creosote, got to clean it yearly or you'll get a flue fire (ask me how I know!).

its rare, but smokey the bear, the forest service wildire prevention mascot, he was a real bear originally recues during a wild fire in the smokey natl park.

It's gotta be bone dry, but When it does happen, because of the topography of the land here, it creates insane wind currents, vortexes and stuff, and fires can spread faster then any human can run, jump over entire mountain tops, go ridge line to ridge line and suffocate everything in the valleys, it gets gnarly for sure.,

That’s all I have for heaters a woodstove! I clean mine out every year! Although I could probably go to! I burn oak! You can go down to the local Cal fire branch, and they will give your brushes and poles to use to get it done for nothing! I like using that service! I hope they keep doing it!

Around here they will drive around and inspect your property and leave you a note telling you what needs to be improved and what you’re doing good with as far as defensible space! They warned me a couple times about removing the screen out of the cap on the pipe! L O L! I think they’ve given up! Thing clogs up in no time!

Yeah, I saw that! Right on the edge, I think it might just go by! Burning north! Blowing up! Well over 100,000 acres! But only six houses burned! It seems to be burning up some wild country! Headed for the Ishi wilderness! Hell, it might make it to red Bluff! Ha ha ha!

They said they were doing structure protection in Cohasset, but his place is not in town, there’s only a couple houses.
Edit: just heard that for safety reasons they pulled all the fire fighters out of Cohasset, basically they were forced to give up the town.

Yeah, I saw that! Cohasset was right in the burn zone! And it looks like it’s about to jump Highway 36 and head up manton Way! Then it’s just a short jump up the hill to Shingletown! Getting uglier! Manton Already burned up about 15 or 20 years ago! Fuck! Hope it stays west of old station!

Just one big one! Bear dodged a bullet! It’s got to cover about 20 miles of sparsely populated country, then roar up a hill into Shingletown! If it makes it that Far it is big trouble! If it hasn’t been enough trouble already! Thanks for the wishes! We are all safe!

And they’re also brutally overgrown. My sister was a volunteer fireman out of old station and when the Brown Fire happened she went through Shasta Village and Starlight pines and said it’s so overgrown they wouldn’t even attempt structure fire control. Hopefully the burn scar from the Dixie fire will slow it down.
