Whats going on in my tent at night?

Humidity increases nightly. Last night it was crazy. From 50 to 70 in the night without the aid of a humidifier in desert air. So lights out for 2 hours and humidity just soars and holds until lights on. The minute lights are on the humidity begings dropping. Very fascinating. I thouggt plants 'sleep' during lights out. This is not indicitive of sleeping. Looks to me like they are night drinking. Little drunks. Or at least breathing?

So what does a plant really do in the night?

My exhaust fans are more or less just moving heat anymore. Tent is wide open. The humidity being released was enough moisture to raise the rooms humidity that much.

Upon further inspection 2 of the plants have consumed their water. 2 of the pots are dry and i added 2l just yesterday.

There's an inverse relationship between relative humidity and temperature. As temperature drops, RH increases (and vice versa). Plants also respire during their night, which means they consume oxygen and release carbon dioxide and moisture, even though photosynthesis stops. They only transpire during their day.

Triggering the exhaust on RH can help, especially if you have a dehumidifier in the same room as the tent. I have one and it's set to 50% RH.

Your tent seems to be somewhat hot. I keep mine below 78º. Do you trigger your exhaust on temperature?

My house is cooled to 78 only. 80 in my tent is good as it gets for me.

Temps go down so humidity goes up. The plants close their stomata at night so its not them transpiring

It has to do with the ambient air which is the outside of the tent air / humidity. I have this happen to me every night but I bought an ac unit and ran ducting from it to the tent. I was going crazy I would have my vent on 10 and it wouldn’t suck anything but yours might if your outside the tent environment is where it should be

It’s 100% ambient air I literally have had this happen, best is to get a dehumidifier too unfortunately but you can get a nice cheap one on Amazon for $20-30 that’s what I use and it will take it down

Also fans on while humidity off will keep it raised it’s moving it around just in the tent

Humidifier hasnt turned on in 2 days. Its not a problem so much as a point of interest. My osciliating fans, all 4 never turn off. The intake and exhaust drop to 1...but since ive just opened the tent to help prevent heat build i just never changed the exhaust fans settings.

No. I had to humidify my lung room and my tent seperatly to be able to build a stable enviroment. When i just humidified the tent and used humidity trigger my intake and exhaust would move too much humidiry and replace it with too dry air. Humidifing the lung room and the tent to the same rh solved this problem.

It is in my tent. But i also hae one in my lung room

My humidity isnt a problem though. I mean the swing is cool and worth pondering and speculating on. Thats it. When the time comes in a 3 weeks or so to drop the rh for the last part of flower i just need to turn the humidifiers off and let the dry desert air do its thing.

I did really think that maybe the plants were dinking in the night and shit but that idea has been corrected.
