Ok I’m confused please help.
HLG had a 150 patriot which is not on there web site anymore. But the 150 Rspec is.
Trimleafs web site list the the 150 Rspec and the patriot and says that it’s good for a 2x2 flower and a 3x3 veg but on HLG web site says not recommended for veg ? What’s what?
And is the patriot the same as the Rspec????

I was confused about that also, I read that the patriot, which is no longer made, was different from the rspec, but some retailers used the same name/description for both. Bottom line, the rspec is not recommended for veg, the patriot is for veg and flower. It’s no longer made, but there could be a few leftovers floating around.

Usually, when you see the term full spectrum, you can use it for both, I thought! I don’t know about this! And it’s not all that cheap! Something like 180 bucks for the one I look at! This plastic sunlight looks a little shady!

Thank you for your findings I own a 150 patriot. It’s in a 2x2 but I was told it’s a weak light that will produce airy flowers. That’s when I started seeing the info on HLG’s website that states the 150 Rspec is not recommended for flower and what was confusing was trimleafs review on the both of them. I’m still Leary.

I don’t blame you! It may be a weak light! But that’s not a weak price! I think they are kind of misleading! More of a specialty Light! But they sure don’t go out of their way to make that clear!

Part of the problem is that HLG basically sells direct, but they can be bought through secondary dealers, many of the secondary dealers still have the Scorpion on their websites, but it says ships direct from HLG (however the patriot is no longer available). The secondary sellers description of the Patriot is there, but if you click on the product it takes you to the 150 RSpec page at HLG. The secondary sellers need to update their websites.

So bottom line the Rspec is a specialty light and it is not the same as the patriot am I correct????
I want to thank everyone for the help

You are correct! Patriot is good for veg/flower, Rspec for flower only. Both are good lights for their respective purposes.
One more thing. Just curious and it’s probably a dumb question, but let’s say according to thre DLI chart at a certain time in flower it calls for a DLI of 45 ok and your on the 12 on 12 off cycle with the lamps. Now let’s say your lamp your using will not get that DLI at the recommended hanging distance and you can’t lower your lamp.
IF You go to 13 hours on and 11 off and then you get that recommended DLI Does that count ?
I realize those numbers arnt written in stone but let’s just say will that work. And I realize you run the chance of messing your girls head up by doing so.
? Thanks
Thanks again everyone.

From what I’ve read, and I don’t grow indoors, you can increase the DLI by increasing the hours of lighting! You just don’t want to go so far to where you’re putting her back into veg if she’s in flower. If it’s photo.! Autos you can do whatever you want with! Maybe some indoor guys will chime in!
