Yea there's no way my nursery/competition pot is 1 gal. I poured some of last year's potting soil into it and then into one thatvi know us actually 1 gal and it was only about 80% full. I then put that into a 3 gal fabric pot folded down in half and the soil was barely 2" deep. Lol

You gunna roll with that? Try the short squat method? A mainlined plant would live that butbI don’t think the timeline gives enough time to mainline a plant enough

There was a post on 07/31 that said you had to confirm your entry with a post that said "I'M IN" so if you didn't post "I'M IN" between 07/31 and 08/05 then you weren't added to the list.

You have till the 8th to drop a seed and join the challenge. @Mikedin I'm sure will be happy to update the list and add more members!
Thanks, but I really do have enough to keep me occupied. But I really appreciate the info. 🙂

I don't think 2" of soil is gonna cut it. Lol I did consider it because I have been debating about using low profile 50 gal pots next year. However, so far my test run of my pepper plants is making me think twice. I put about 15 gal of soil in an old 30 gal pot. At this point only one needs support to stand up...for now. I'm just imagining a big plant in something like that vs a strong wind.

This is one of our peppers this year.

I assumed it was going to be a hot dry summer so I mixed in some high moisture retention PROMIX into my wife's miracle grow soil.

Then of course we get tons of rain and a lot are over watered, go figure.

That sounds about right. 🤣 Your plants are so nice and.........bug free. Lol I ripped out all of the wild Cucumber this spring and the Cucumber beetles have been seeking revenge ever since. Not totally unexpected but ffs. Little buggers! 🤬

Haven't had many issues with bugs this year.

When I used to grow hops at my old place I would get tons of Japanese beetles.

I would just shake the bines and gather them in a tarp, walk down the road and smother them.

Here is a not so good looking pepper plant, bells definitely do not like there feet wet.

So I ordered 1 gallon fabric pots and got 2 gallon pots. I have 1 gallon pots coming tomorrow (allegedly). I will place one of these autos in dirt mix with perlite and worm castings and add picture and description to proper thread.

I’ve heard that peppers grow better in smaller containers than larger ones. Not that experienced with growing them any other way than smaller containers.

Interesting. If that's true then I should have a stellar harvest.

Last year I grew them in this 4x5' box. This year Serranos in 1 gal clay and Jalapeno in 1.5 gal clay half buried.

I should have grown them in coconut coir as I've been having to water 3x's a day.

Nice peppers tho

Oh hell yeah that's interesting as hell half buried pots 🤔 I have had mole issues in the past this is genius. Not the watering 3 time a day😅

Are you seeing any difference in size, or amount of fruit this year vs last year?
I’ve grown them in solo cups up to three gallon pots, but never in anything bigger, the solo cups produced almost as much as a one gallon pot when grown indoors under led’s.

Nope. Today was the first harvest and they were small. We'll see how they do now that I've took some. That usually gets them going😉

Peppers 5-7gal pots tomatoes 15-20gal is about average, I ran 5’s for everything I think next year I’m gunna change up to 10’s
