Hello, guys, I need your help.
I want to know, roughly how many buds can you get from planting one plant, or how many buds can be produced per watt?

So far just looking at my grow with an SF1000 (100 watts?) I think it would be around 2 ounces, but I don't weigh it or anything and I know density of buds make a major difference on weight.

I just realized you said one plant, not sure about that one. I got three growing.

I have heard of some people selling plant growth lights before, and they told me that using their lights, 100 watts, they can grow about 7-10 ounces of crops. I thought they were crazy and I didn't believe it.

I'll just say that making claims like that makes me very suspect. So many factors go into how your harvest comes out. Light brands don't make all that much difference, much like nutrient brands, as they all pretty much are configured the same as far as spectrum. Build quality and reliability are what are most important.

That being said, the differences in yield from one light to the next, wattage the same, is minimal. Grower skill is what comes into play here.

One big factor is, if you're using photo period seeds, you can grow a 20 foot marijuana tree and dry yield 10 pounds. To say that my light will do X is disingenuous. Too many other factors come into play to be able to make that claim honestly.

I would say with a 100W light and one plant you'll probably dry yield around 2 ounces. If you top and train maybe 3 -4. If you are an experienced grower? 5 - 6 wouldn't surprise me.

Am I wrong in thinking that the length of time also affects yield? Like 12/12 would generally lead to smaller bud size because the plants are getting 6 hours less of light than if it was 18/6?

no bud size won't be smaller, plant accumulate sugars during the day and consume them at night to sustain growth. With a DLI within a good range you will store enough sugar for night time.

OH ok, interesting. So it would probably increase yields of someone were to buy a SF2000 and run it 12/12 instead of sticking to a sf1000 running at 18/6?

as some others and i tried to explain you in an other thread, watt you'll need will depend on the area you'll want to flower due to how light dispersion quiclky decrease with artificial light (unlike the sun) when not directly under the source and getting far from it and this independtly from light schedule (as you're supposed to stay within a certain range anyway 12/12 to 20/4).

LED brand scale their LED panel wattage so you can achieve a certain DLI for a certain area when you're in that light schedule range.

Daily Light Integral represent the optimum amount of light a plant can sustain per day. It's a relation between the ppfd values of your light across the area/canopy and the time it's exposed to light.

There is no one correct answer. I've taken half oz off an auto and several pounds off a tree. While every plant has the potential to be large every plant will be different due to several variables.

The area is 4x2 feet 60" tall tent.

then for exemple spiderfamer will have:

sf2000 200W quantum board or SE4500 and G4500 430W bar style that will fit and scale for 2x4.

most other brands will have some equivalence, the first thing i check is the panel dimension in parallel with tent dimension

i personnally use the sf2000 200W in a 2x3 and would prolly use a 250W to 300W LED in a 2x4 wich i think is ideal for that tent size.

so i would prolly opt for SE4500 and G4500 with dimension almost as large as the tent that offer a good even light coverage and light dispersion near tent borders and use it dimmed down to 75% max close to the plant in flowering.

Near Infinite based on veg time, training and genetics

So you have any pictures of the 200w in the 2x3 grow? I guess I can check if you have pictures uploaded?

yeah lot of photo on my profile if you click on the name or avatar. i have uploaded some today where you see the panel inisde the tent.

There's so much, are they all the 2x3 with 200 watt spider farmer? If so, man you get some good grows with that light. I am going to take it into consideration. But even, just looking at my grows with my 100w it's looking good enough for me. That's also including that with this grow I think one or two of the plants were stunted because of heat or light stress. So I will try and do it a little more properly next time and if I feel like at my best, my results can be improved then I'll consider those lights you were talking about. I don't like the idea of a dimmer because the very first like I got was a Mars Hydro with a dimmer and the dimmer broke I think and it was just stuck on max and I'd hate to have that happen again so I don't trust dimmer lights now or I treat them as the dimmer will crap out in the first month and I'll be stuck with something on max.

then you could use 3 sf1000 in a 2x4 for exemple, panel max dimension are 12,7" that's 1,06' so 3 can fit in a 2x4 and offer a rather good light coverage and dispersion

This is a 12 ft monster Acapulco gold. We will find out how much u can get off one plant..harvest in 2 months

Hmm, well, I still have other lights sitting around so instead of wasting money (or really creating more e-waste) I could try adding my gixxer purple light in the same tent as my SF1000, or even the Mars Hydro with busted dimmer with I think is a 100 watt. But because up until now I figures a single sf1000 was enough for this tent (if not too much) then I could easily add one of those to to this tent for more lighting. I think I will try that sometime in the future.
