I didn't mention that I followed behind with some petroleum jelly to seal the wound and keep ants and other bugs at bay. A thick smear around the wound, the trunk above and below the node, the base of all lower limbs and support poles.
I meantioned it because of this. When I was little in my grandpa's garden when a branch snaped he would put a toothpick with cord to straighten it up and some powdered cinnamon covering the wound. 😁

Yeah, everyone has a method! And some plants are more susceptible to disease! I’ve always just got it back into the socket as close to original And tied or zip, tied it up, nice and tight! Never put anything on it! Never had a problem! As long as there’s a little connective tissue left! The more of that the better your chances!

@Oldchucky Thanks, I honestly don't know how reliable the source of the petroleum jelly thing is, ya know. Hasty decisions are rarely wise decision. I removed as much as I could being careful to not spread around in the process. There's still a film. Ugh! 🤞

I was going to say maybe take some alcohol out, but that might just thin it out and make it soak in faster! Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

If you wanted to hassle with it, I think he would be a head to use something dry like baking, flour or something dust it on let it soak up some of the grease and wipe it off! I’ll quit bugging you now! Or something like Clay, kitty litter or oil, dry ground up real fine!

I've broken smaller side branches and even duct tape has worked. It's a thick branch and it had some support already I'm wondering if it was an animal. The plant is near some apple trees and they come looking for fallen fruit. I have nasturtium on the border of my space that some animal tears up all the time. They aren't eating it. They dig down in the soil. If it was a bird then it never would have supported a cola to begin with.

Shit breaks! Usually I am the breaker! The break isn’t the end of the world. But it does look like animals have pretty easy access to your area unless I’m not seeing a fence someplace! have a couple feral hogs come in there overnight and they might tear you a new asshole! L O L

The power of cinnamon 🤯 I had no idea last year and now it's part of my topdress every time. You can also ferment it and spray it 😉

My space is surrounded on 3 sides by a blackberry jungle. Beyond that is a creek. It's probably nutria. Ugly fuckers are a huge nuisance. They have never fucked with my plants before but they have never been that close to the orchard before either.

You can use cinnamon to cover wounds ✌️ stimulates the healing and prevents disease.

I haven’t had a chance to read a lot of your thread. What part of the country are you in? Aren’t nutria Down Louisiana way? Aren’t they the critters that tear up levees! I know it’s probably late! I am in Callie!

Sweet! That is great news! That is great growing country! I’m down in the north Sacramento Valley. Just outside of red Bluff! We’re damn near neighbors! L O L! Thank God, you’re not in Louisiana! L O L

That will work! Maybe not quite as good as Southern Oregon but a lot better than Northern Oregon!
