So I have a friend who I’ve tried to teach how to grow. But no matter what, he finds a way to screw it up. Now his issues are slowly bleeding into my grows. I need some advice with this latest saga. I had some room in my inside grow space, so he said he had too many plants for his flowering tent and he would bring me one. I didn’t expect much as some of the stuff he’s given me in the past needed emergency care and a long rehab to get back to something viable. However, this time he delivered a good looking plant that was just starting to flower. He had apparently cut his lights back to 12/12 just to sex the plants, despite me telling him that it was not needed and the sex would reveal itself eventually. Anyway, I get the plant and make space for it. It went into my space under 12/12 around July 1st. She flowered for a few weeks and I could tell it wasn’t the strain he told me it was. Then more recently, I notice what looked like seed pods. After closer examination, I found a bunch of seed pods…..a couple of the big colas are flat full of seeds. I paid him a visit and looked at his grow. Damned if he didn’t have 3 good sized plants in full flower……but one of them was MALE. I asked if he preferred his buds to be full of seeds? I then pointed to the obvious, to which he replied that he thought the β€œbuds” looked different. Well no sh!t…It turns out, the plant he gave me was in that same tent with the male…..go figure.
He also said he was given some seeds by someone and my plant might be one those…..which are supposedly Super Silver Haze.
This plant of mine is a shit show…..seeds all over……foxtailing top to bottom…..and looks like it has a long long time to go and its week 8 or so of flower. I’ve included 3 pics. Pic 1 was when I got the plant on July 1 and it has clearly been flowering a week or so already. Pic 2 & 3 are from today.
There’s no way my light or the temps have caused this foxtailing…..I’m not pushing her hard and my canopy temps are 77-78F.
I’ve never grown a haze and am hoping this is how they usually look. But this plant hasn’t done a thing in like 3 weeks…….white pistils everywhere and nothing is progressing.
Help me out here……I would remove it and toss, but it smells soooo strong and I’m hoping there may be a few buds without seeds…..
Thanks

I can't help you, but hopefully me leaving this comment puts this back at the top.

I will suggest something that's done in animal rescues though. If you plan on bringing anymore outside plants into your grows, maybe set up a quarantine tent. Place the outsider in the quarantine tent until you make sure it isnt infested with disease, pest or pollen. Just a thought.

Hopefully, you get some dank from it with minimal seeds.

Seeds won't kill you, yes, they're a PITA. In the olden daya all bud had seeds. Fertilized buds will cut down a bit on yield, since the plant is now redirecting resources to seed production, but it's not going to warrant tossing the plant.

BTW, if your friend can't tell a male from a female plant, I would not take advice from him in the future!!!!

Sounds like you’re taking it a little personal! Real Friends Trump grows! Take responsibility for your own actions! I’m not into seeds, so I would escort it to the compost pile! Good luck!

I've had friends in the past that have wanted to do the same thing and I find excuses why I can't take the plants for this reason. Seeds are not the end of the world but there's only one place for nanners up here: compost. ✌️

I think this is an excellent idea to prevent disease from spreading from plant to plant. May not help pollen spread as effectively should that happen, but I can see how this would save your crops if it's a regular thing. ✌️

Add that to your lessons learned. Don’t bring In Outside plants. Clones being the only exception and not without treating them first. Sorry you had a bad experience.
