What's the story on the seed, where did it come from? Looks good, looks like you have the most developed plant so far that I have seen. Some seriously vigorous growth, there! Impressive.
Now you done did it. I think the only one who can match my waxing poetic, and inscription of Tomes would be
@Thatoneguyyouknow_ , can sometimes be hard for me (us, most likely) to get the thoughts/ideas in our heads out in a succinct, brief synopsis, but I will try.
TLDR: bunch of the boys crammed a tent and let magic fly.
(mostly) unabridged version.
I am an old head, and as much as I enjoy the footy fruity rocket berries, my true love lies with the rotting corpse flesh, overwhelming gassy diesel, cat pissed in a bowl of ammonia, burn your nose hairs, gag reflex, throw up in your mouth skunky goodness that I remember from my youth. Iโve been a legacy grower for a minute, and know personally 3 others that sail the high seas in the same ship. A few springs ago, we were all together on a camping trip, and got to talking about how todayโs weed is trash, like all Stoners of my vintage do. While enhanced, we came up with this idea to get all our best stinky plants together for a love fest of sorts. So with that, we gathered clones of our faves, as well as ordered a bunch of seeds that we could find that were either labeled as skunk, or were super gassy strains.
We then met at dudes house with our offerings in planters that were bigger than solo cups, but smaller than 1 gallon nursery pots. Some plants were undetermined sex from the regular seed packs, and some were female cuttings that were reversed with either CS or STS, just depending on who brought them. They were then crammed SOG style in to a 3x3 tent with enough fans to create a category 2 storm.
Nobody knows exactly what went on in that tent, and what crossed with what, but in the end we had a table full of seeds that got distributed far and wide. The plan was to grow out the seeds in a pheno hunt, and take the best, and repeat the love fest, but as plans often go when high, that never materialized. Some did grow out the seeds, but the elusive profile we were after never materialized. As life happens in the intervening time, 2 of the pirates set sail for destinations far off. Some of the genetics in that original tent were Deathstar, Dumpster, Meigs County Gold, Skunk 1, Super Skunk, RKS (laughable descriptor at best), NYSD, NL5, and a few others I canโt recall at the moment.
Earlier this spring, I hooked up with the 1 remaining pirate, and he asked if I ever popped the beans, and I told him I had not. He had renewed interest in continuing the quest, with the initial beans, and asked if I would be in. I said Aye, but I have a couple runs I need to finish up before I can start. So the plan is sometime this winter to get offspring together, and let them at it once more. All hob goblin anything goes style, like nature intended. Dude has already been in touch with the other 2, and they are sending back some seeds to increase diversity.
I had some space open up, and a few moons ago,
@PlumberSoCal2 made a post about how the 1GC would potentially be viewed by a bunch of new growers and could help them on their journey, and different methods and techniques would be saved for posterity in 1 single thread (2 as the case may be) rather than in individual grow diaries. I had never thought about it like that, so I figured I would give it a go. There is is much misinformation, disinformation, bad advice, and some just plain dangerous advice out there, that I figured I would try to catalog and record a grow, coming at it like a brand new grower may, with limited resources, knowledge, funding or genetics.
A lot of the equipment I am using for this grow is budget. Amazon returns, cheap stuffs available at box stores, in case you are in an outlaw state and donโt want to visit a LGS. Although I do have a leg up on some things, like a vermicomposting bin, where I can control what is added, baeuvaria bassiana, which is probably out of the budget for most new growers, and a very little bit of knowledge. Minuscule compared to most on here. These beans are untested by me, so I will learn with them along with you guys.
I attribute the robustness of the seedling(s) to hybrid vigor. Like I said, there is no way to know what is crossed with what, other than to know what the receiving plant was. To remove that however, we just mixed all the seeds together so no one person knows exactly what they got. Some seeds will be regular, some will be feminized, and some will be mutants. Know way to know until they grow.
I am not saying my way is the right way, the wrong way, or the only way. Itโs simply my way, and I am trying to record as much, in detail, as I can, so if in a years time someone happens upon that thread, they can see how I did, and can possibly replicate it, if their conditions allow for it. And if shit goes tits up, they can follow along on that journey as well.
Also, ancient gnomish garden magic and incantations to the god of thunderfuck, probably paid a large role in the early success.
If you made it all the way through this diatribe, go grab yourself a cookie. You deserve it.
