Should i add grow lights to a plant growing outside if it doesnt get direct sunlight due to it
I have a plant growing up in the corner of two walls, causing it to never get direct sunlight. Despite this, I can see leaves growing slightly everyday. I recently lined the walls around it with aluminum in effort to direct more sun rays.

I'm wondering if the plant would do better if I added a grow light above it; even though it is outdoors. Is this a good idea, or should I just leave it alone since it made it this far with natural sunlight?

The plant is pretty small but it looks like it's starting to grow what would turn into buds.
I should note that I'm too scared to transplant the plant to a new location from fear of root shock killing the plant. And also, the reason the plant is in the non optimal location is because it was grown by accident by throwing down old reggie seeds πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

I'm in West Texas which is usually really hot and dry but lately it's been nothing but clouds and rain. Maybe a light would be good for these days, but not when it's already like 105Β° F? It's never dark where the plant grows, just never direct sunshine

So should I add a light, or do you think it gets enough light considering it's survived this long? And if so, does it look like its time for the plant to get 12hours on and off of light, or is it still in vegetative state? Please be considerate that this is my first time growing any plant and I'm not experienced at all. Thank you

Are you on your own property? Is it out of view from public eyes? It would be good to know if it's a male or female? It needs at least 100watt light on it. Are you reading anything about what a plant needs?

I'm reading quite a lot about what a plant needs and asking questions on this forum when I can't find specific info about my situation. My question was if adding a grow light on top of the natural light it already gets would be necessary, so if you could answer that, I'd appreciate it.

Sure put a 150watt light above it make sure it's on a timer 18/6 a big bright one.
Would there be any risk in it getting too much light since it's already receiving some sunlight? How do I know when it's time to change to a shorter light cycle? Thank you

I did this earlier this year before I was getting long days. Not sure if it helped or not because it was later and the plants had already started to flower! If I had of got them with lights the entire time I think it would have made the difference! But you’re on the other end of it being at the end of the summer, are you trying to get some more veg out of it? (Im thinking so lol). Whats your weather going to be like? US is going to start gettting cold (I know thats relative) but in general that’s what’s going to happen.

I dont see there being risk as long as you are mindful of how much wattage and how close you have the light to the plants! I think Gals suggestion of a 100 or 150 watt light is a great idea for achieving what you want. Now if it works thats another story : )

I think you’re wasting your time! Too late in the year! All lights will do is draw bugs in! Let it go! Take what you get! Chalk it up to experience! Just my two cents!
